It would be the absolute pits to end up in Owl's Sheffield, even short term. Who'd've thought that he could fall so far, some comeback if he manages to rebound from this setback, his darkest day before the dawn.

I feel for Aiden. He played really well for Ireland through the campaign but something has turned Martinez off him big time to not even make the bench all season
Loan move to Sheffield Wednesday confirmed. At least they've playoff aspirations and he should see game time. I wonder if he'll be in the squad for their match tomorrow.
Not sure if you are taking the mickey but it's hardly a huge fall from non-playing for a mid-table Premiership team to hopefully getting his game for a mid to upper table Championship side. Next game for Wednesday is a tough match against Burnley so even if he plays, it won't be a walk in the park for him. Fingers crossed that it works out for him, for Wednesday but more importantly for Ireland because, on form, he does add something different/creative to the mix. The game time (if he gets it) cannot but benefit Ireland (barring injury of course).
Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal says he tried to sign McGeady when he was manager of Sporting Lisbon in 2009/2010 so he does know a lot about him so I suspect he will give him every chance.
Of course I was taking the mickey, how could you have any doubt?:)
It was headlined with megaphone decibel levels,
re some perceived sarcasm from you about McGeady having feet of clay, not magic.
Of course I hope he can take his opportunity to rise like a phoenix from this circumstance.
I've always said McGeady was a Championship loan waiting to happen.
The most expensive fees from every transfer day for Irish players: (Leon Best was once IN DEMAND)

Cringed when the interview referred to Aiden as a "British player."
Great to see Caravahal knows him well and is playing good football. Should be a good move for him even though it's not the PL. Championship is still a very competitive league and the teams that go up demonstrate the gulf isn't that great.
Any photos yet of a proud McGeady with his Sheffield Wed shirt?
or one of McGeady with his Sheffield Wed shirt?
Good point. The SSN vidiprinter suggests he might make his debut alright.
Think players had to be registered before noon to play today, that was definitely the case with Premier League clubs.
If he trained with them yesterday morning, the chances are he was registered in time, and should be involved tonight.
Love the comments from the Everton fans vs his new temporary fans.

McEddy makes it on for the final three minutes of a 1-1 draw with high-flying Burnley. Ward played the entire match for Burnley.
Nothing much to read into McGeady's cameo, except it did happen and he's only there 5 minutes. If anything, it's a positive and the club are desperate to make the play offs.
Just a way of letting the fans know what he looks like I guess, no doubt Aiden did the sensible thing and avoided any contact with the ball. :)
Applauding fans so possibly the former :)

I don't think the pride has kicked in just yet, he looks a bit sheepish there.
From looking at the mini .jpeg it looks like he's lining out for Porto. I'm gonna go with that one.
Following in the legendary Regi Blinker's footsteps.
What ever happened to Regi Blinker?

Ah, I'd forgotten he went the other way. Celtic's CEO, Jock Brown (a TV commentator and brother of Craig) spun the deal as an exchange for DiCanio in order to be able to stand by his promise that DiCanio would not be sold. Something like that anyway.
You were thinking Phil O'Donnell (RIP) and Simon Donnelly perhaps?
If you click on it, it gets bigger :) Here's another one for your delectation. No Porto badge there :)-

Regi Blinker was on Sky recently. I just associate him with the decline of the club while, hopefully, I will associate Aiden, along with his 70+ Irish caps and performance in Georgia, with the return of the club to the top table after 16 years in the wilderness.
At least we can see the shirt doesn't need to shrink in order to fit.
What kind of salary are Wednesday paying Aiden?
Second start of the season for McGeady today, and second time this season his replacement changed the game... eek!
Therefore we can say his presence (or lack of) had a positive impact on the game.
I wasn't totally serious although Nuhiu was supposed to have had a big impact in turning the game. McGeady was supposed to have played well though, being praised for his direct play and crosses of all things.
If McGeady couldn't shine in Stainless, then what hope would there be for him?
Jeez hope he get match fit and starts making an impact. Although, I think the premier league would actually suit him better than the championship in a weird way
The highlights are here- (McGeady's main contributions are at 0:12, 3:50, 5:07 & 7:28)
