I'll keep it simple for you so. Did the defender wrap his arms around Gerrards waist or not? Did he try to impede his run or not?
If you answer no to either you either don't know the rules of the game or you are an Everton fan who's letting his hatred of Liverpool cloud his judgment. I suspect it's the latter.
If you answer yes to any of them then it was a penalty.
If you follow the letter of the law then you could give it but you would have to give every holding incident which would have ment 40 penos.
If it was obstruction as some of ye are claiming then it should have been an indirect free kick, no ?
so your saying as long as the defender touches you its ok to dive on the ground looking for a peno ?? having an arm blocking your run would not cause you to fall over .
everyone knows what he did yet again ill point out thats not my point its the hypocrisy of the liverpool fans im talking about with all there slating of other players , what did ye call AJ, Andy "the feather" Johnson because he goes down easily !!!!! :eek: :eek: .... i dont think ye will be able to use that again any time soon
stop trying to get out of it with ye're nonsence there was contact its a mans game no self respecting man would have dived on the ground like that he is a cheating fairy .
this is like the "intent" peno he dived for earlier in the season or the 2 footed stamping against everton when ye claim he tried to get the ball . ye're blindness towards liverpool is unreal .
So you're saying it was a penalty. In that case get over it and move on, you're sounding more and more despearte with each post.
I said it could be given i didnt say it should be given .
Its a non contact sport so a free could be given for every time a player puts his hand on anothers back , bumps into him ,backs into him etc etc ... but the refs know there will be a limited amount of contact and that if you rule to the letter of the law nothing would ever get done thats why common sence is used .
unlike in this case where there was a little holding the ref had a word then Gerrard dived on the floor conned the ref into thinking the defender had dragged him to the ground and won a peno .
get over it ye're the one who keep bringing it up i made one comment on it and have only responded to your questions , as soon as ye stop going on abou tit i wont have to keep responding .
And for about the 5th time its not the peno im going on about , its the liverpool fans who have a go at players like AJ for going down easy !!!
See, he's still going on about it^
And explain what is wrong with that statement , using your vast knowledge of the game .
Rugby = contact sport
Football =non contact sport
And remember you have just said gerrard deserved a peno due to the tiny bit of contact, surely your not going to suggest that it isnt a non contact sport now are you ?????
Mikel Arteta is Merseyside's Player of the Season so far
The official Barclays Premiership Actim Index has the Blues midfielder in 6th position in the 2006-07 playerS rankings list.
He is the highest-ranking Mersey-based player, and is only headed by Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry and Wayne Rooney.
Arteta has been in sparkling form as Everton continue the push for a European qualification position in the Premiership table and he is just ahead of Steven Gerrard and Steve Finnan in the rankings.
Tim Howard, who recently committed his long-term future to the Blues, has entered the list of the Top Five goalkeepers and the official list also confirms that Andy Johnson is the top striker on Merseyside this season.
The Everton top-scorer is ranked 17th in the Top 100, with Dirk Kuyt being his nearest local rival back in 29th.
So there is no contact when you shoulder someone or when you fly into a tackle and knock the man off his feet but it's legal as you got the ball??
Laughable.
1.while running for a ball you can run shoulder to shoulder you can t push the player off the ball with you shoulder .
Hence my its a non contact sport BUT THERE WILL BE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF CONTACT
2.Yes as your winning the ball without knocking the player , he falls after you have won the ball. its a by product of the tackle , you arent knocking the player to win the ball .
Are you saying that if i go into a tackle with 2 feet and studs up ,one knocks the player but the other gets the ball then its legal just because i touched the ball ??
now thats laughable ..... but why dont you put a smart answer and some roll eyes smiley's as you normally do ...sure if you think your right then who cares.
Now im sure technically its a "contact sport" as there will be contact in the same way holding hands with your missus is contact, its a far cry from rugby tackling her .
in rugby you tackle the player in football you play the ball .
Can Réiteoir come in and help us & Anto here?:D
Your an idiot of course there will be some contact every sport has contact basket ball has contact but its a non contact sport as well ,even a game a chess will have some contact FFS .
Im the one contradicting myself ...your the one saying its a contact sport but at the same time saying it was a peno because the defender made contact :confused: :confused:
But why im argueing with a liverpool fan that reads the Sun ill never know :mad:
Please do. I get no joy from showing you up.
