With all due respect to everyone else so far, this is my favourite CD so far. Have been listening to it and Stann's a lot in the last couple of weeks. The Beirut stiff is new to me but I'll certainly be checking them out when I get the chance. The Nick Cave and Captain Beefheart tracks were well chosen and the Animals Sports Day is growing on me. ;) Excellent, excellent CD.
Another well put together CD, favourites include the Hayseed Dixie Radiohead medley and Elbow's Teardrop. Sympathy For the Devil has got a lot of play too. It's made me dig out/download/check out not just the bands themselves, but the bands they covered so I think you can count it as a success. :)
Cheers, TCM, I will so. :)
Sorry to always be the one harping on about it (though obviously not sorry enough not to be doing so :) ), but is this gone again? I see BGR hasn't been on in a while.
pm for Jebus.
I'll have these out tomorrow lads. My CD Drive is still giving me trouble so I'm gonna work off my mate's laptop and get it done
Gonna finally give Stanns CD a few spins today at work. Commentary by close of business. Now ...to business.
Tied up in college today so won't be with you til Friday fellas.
The good news is is that it has a quality CD cover and everything, very, very fancy :)
Posted out this morning lads, hopefully will be with you tomorrow.
I have two spares if anyone else is interested for this round, don't know why I have two extra envelopes and two extra CDs this time, could be cause I was drunk whilst burning them last night :)
Anyway, if anyone wants a copy this round just PM me your address and I'll throw one out to you
Got your CD there Jebie, thank you. Cool cover - you know you were a lot cuter as a child. Like the look of the tracklist as well, 2 through 6 are particularly whetting my appetite. Will give it a few spins later.
By the way, I believe I may have intimated a few weeks ago that I was set to release my very own sophomore slump, well I was, and am (no production difficulties, nor indeed record label fractiousness), but have just been very busy of late (saving the world and what-not) and am away from this evening to Wednesday so it's probably best if someone else takes next week and I'll happily go the week after next as my CD is practically settled (though no cover yet!). Sorry for causing any confusion (jebus) or indeed cantankerousness (stann). I'll be back to my reliable self after Wednesday. :)
Fail has been fighting off all comers in the car stereo all weekend, Jebus, it's rather good indeed. :)
Must say the standard of these CDs overall has been exceptionally high, but this quite possibly tops the lot so far, or comes very close.
So many highlights. Brilliant start through the first 6 tracks, and a very strong finish with the last 4. The inclusion of Range Life and the Creedence version of Heard It Through The Grapevine is inspired.
Loads of stuff I've not heard before but will be checking out - Gui Boratto (what tune is that?), Tegan & Sara (who I keep hearing good things and really must investigate), Midlake and The National.
Three thumbs up!
Gui Boretto track is called Like You I believe. I got it off a blank CD that my mate burned of Gui's stuff and he didn't include the track listing, but I think it's Like You

Just letting you know I got the CD ok Jevus, will report back here tomorroe with thoughts.
Got the cd. Gave it a quick listen the end of last week. Not sure if it's the cd or my old stereo, but it only plays on my laptop, which has seriously curtailed it's airing ( along with the fact that my 4y/o daughter saw a bit of Mamma Mia, so ABBA hasn't left the stereo all weekend. I do like a bit of ABBA, but I must have heard Mamma Mia about 40 times on Saturday). Anyway, I digress. I'll get around to re-burning it and give it a fair crack this week.
Greetings old friends. I don't get to post on foot.ie much these days and I'm sure many of ye don't either but I just wanted to thank all involved in this initiative. 5 or 6 years after the fact I'm still listening to these compilations. Found a bunch of them recently and stuck em on the pod. They're often the closest thing to new music I encounter even if the newest stuff involved is 6 years old at this stage. Sometimes, on a rare night out, someone'll enquire if I've heard X new album by X new band and I have to reply that if Dora didn't do it, Bob didn't build it or Makka Pakka didn't mainline it I haven't a clue what you're talking about.
I've been reading through this thread and loving it. Raging I missed out on it.
Greetings yourself, Lionel, thanks for pulling the thread up again, good to read after six years, Jesus!
Funny thing, have had a bunch of these in the car the last couple of weeks - Jebus' Fail!, Noby's Sophomore Slump, Kingdom Hoop's Hoop Hoop Hurrah!, and your own Whoa What A Feeling among them. Given a bit of rooting time I could still lay hands on every one, I reckon. Great stuff!
Anyone else up for resurrecting this? I took part on one of them and absolutely loved it. Still play some of the CDs. Something fantastic about receiving a mix CD in the post.
I would definitely like to give it a try all right.
Okay - That's two. Need 4 or 5 to make it worthwhile.
Ah go on then. I'll join in.
Six years on I might have lost a little bit of touch with what the kids are listening to these days, but can always go the golden oldie route I suppose, so include me in too.
There was more than this one thread too BonnieShels, meant to say that before. A couple more IIRC, the whole thing went at least three rounds, plenty more to peruse! Will try dig the other ones up later when I get a mo.
Ok, so thats four. Glad to see Stann signing up, he delivered a great CD as far as I recall when I did it. Will we wait for another to join us ?
Ha, possibly gained a bit in the memory, but it'd be churlish not to appreciate the sentiment! :D
You did a fine one yourself though if I remember right, Spacemen 3, Tindersticks, Orbital and all.
Just adding those other threads now in case they were missed, the second and third rounds of this were on separate ones.
Lads!
