Came on for Edwards so I assume he played on the wing.

Good stuff. I read on the Football365 commentary that it was an overhead kick. Hopefully the first of many top-flight goals for him. He seems to be the forgotten man after his SPL exploits last year, hopefully he can re-ignite his career. This'll do his confidence no harm.
Ah, let's be positive! I want to believe that it was a spectacular goal of magnificent aesthetic beauty and superb technique, worthy of gracing any sporting occasion!
Doesn't seem to be too much to be positive about these days in the footballing world
EDIT: It was a side volley from 1-2 yards out
Speaking of forgotten men, has anyone noticed how well Clinton has been doing since Owls fan's favourite person took over at the Palace?
Chris McCann, JJ O'Toole, Stokes, Clinton, A. Reid, Burgess and others on the scoresheet today. Steven Reid's comeback continues.

Anyone know why Steve Finnan and Andy O'Brien played full 90 minutes games in midweek in Europe, and neither featured for their respective teams?

Oddly enough, John O'Shea has been introduced from the bench in every away game he's started on the bench for Man United, but has come on in less than half of the home games he's been a substitute for
November statistics: http://www.chatsoccer.net/irishabroad/november.xquery
Aiden McGeady won the most home games, Andy Reid won most away games, Jonathan Walters was the top scorer and Sean St Ledger lost the most
here's Alan Sheehans take on the game at the moment, he is currently in the side ahead of another academy guy whos contract was recently extended till 2010, an English u21 cap.
Jonathan Hayes has also gotten back into the side and had drawn praise generally, some neat work on Sat and 2 very good crosses, but sadly Carl Cort on the pen spot is a talentless lazy donkey at present, only good for booing at.

Sheehan hopes his special delivery can do the trick!
by Bill Anderson
Leicester City could well take the high road to success when they face an in-form Burnley at Turf Moor tonight.
The Clarets are bound to be confident after winning their last two games under new manager Owen Coyle and will be sweeping forward in front of their home fans.
That could mean City's chances will be few and far between, and may rest, yet again, on set-pieces.
That is where Alan Sheehan could come in. His crosses from free-kicks and corners, and his own blistering shots when he gets the chance, have proved a pretty potent weapon so far this season - and he set City on the road to victory in Ian Holloway's first game as manager at Bristol City with a trademark free-kick delivery converted by Richard Stearman.
As the more experienced, or rather less inexperienced, of two youthful left-backs, he got the nod over Joe Mattock on Saturday for the disappointing home defeat by Southampton, and City are likely to be along similar lines tonight.
Sheehan said: “All I know is I put the ball in the box. With us having headers of the ball like Gareth McAuley, Patrick Kisnorbo and Richard Stearman, if I put the ball in the right places, I am fairly confident they are going to score.
“I would like to think it is a good weapon because most of our goals have come from set-pieces this season. It would be nice to score a few more from open play but it doesn't really matter where they come from.
“We were very disappointed on Saturday, harshly done by with the penalty, and it is good we can try to rectify it really quickly and hopefully we can get another win away.
“I think our away form is not bad this year and, if it does come from a set-piece, then fine.”
Sheehan knows he faces competition from not just Mattock at full-back but now Jonathan Hayes as a left winger, both roles he has filled so far, and he knows it is up to him to make his mark as Holloway gauges the squad.
Sheehan said: “A lot of us are trying to prove a point to the new manager, every day in training and in every game, that we are good enough to be playing week in week out.
“I think it is a good thing because a manager like him keeps you on your toes, gets you up for every game and gets the best out of the players. It is going to take time to get everything right but I think things are going okay at the moment.”
Love on the rocks Crafty?
Saw this on a Celtic forum.
My friend came across an article somewhere (he can't recall) of a 16 year old kid playing for our old pals, St. Pauli. He wa born in Germany of Turkish/Irish parents (think his mother was Irish).
He's been banging in the goals for the youths (over 100 a year!). Ireland, Turkey and Germany are all trying to get him to commit to each respective country.
Has anyone heard of him?
There's a player called Murak Dolan playing for them:
http://www.fcstpauli.com/magazin/art...464&topmenu=94
Jesus Morrison is scoring a lot of goals
Yep, fair play to Clinton.
JJ O'Toole scored again last night, another header, as did Andy Reid, Matt Holland and Leon Best (2). Mark Yeates got yet another assist (Poom spilt his shot and Matt Connolly* scored with the follow up). R5Live said that Tabb and Michael Doyle played well for Coventry.
* I presume this is the ex-Arsenal guy who played or us at underage before playing for England underage too, or is it someone else?
I'm pretty sure it's this guy, Selcuk Tidim - Fc St. Pauli Von 190 E.V,
who was supposed to play with the U-16's against France this week, but he did play for our U-16's as a sub a couple of times last week, he's listed on the site below in the squad vs Belgium.

We should try and get the other guy as well!
Garry Breen, Karl Moore, and Paul Marshall all started for Man City's reserve side, with Michael Daly, and Donal McDermott on the bench, in their 4-2 win over Wigan's reserves. Marshall scored a hat trick on the night, according to Man City's report he was playing up front, normally he's a midfielder.

Billy Dennehy gets his first run out of the season
matthew cassidy has been named in the bolton squad tonight. hope he gets a run out.
Duff was set to play against Man Utd reserves tonight but the game was called off due to bad weather.
Fromm BBC gossip section:
QPR have agreed a £2m deal for Sunderland's Daryl Murphy and a £150,000 move for Watford's Gavin Mahon. (Mail)
From some blog called soccerlensQuote:
Wigan’s new manager Steve Bruce is hoping to sign a new striker in January and his priorities at the moment are linked to Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink at Celtic and Wolves’ Andy Keogh. Wolves signed Keogh in January this year for £600,000 from Scunthorpe. Celtic meanwhile brought Dutchman Vennegoor of Hesselink in 2006 for a deal worth around £3.4m. He has impressed since playing in the SPL though and Celtic will surely not want to let him go.
From Newcastle's website: "Damien Duff will have to wait for his return to competitive action after Thurday night's reserve team fixture at Man Utd was rained off."
Are you looking for job as tabloid sub-editor? :p
If he was, he'd come up with the heading:
"Omens not good for Damien as rain haunts his comeback".
No Stutt, not at all, but thank you for caring:p
truth be told, watching Leicester for the past seasons has become so mind numbingly boring and basically pretty unenjoyable, I come away from there not really having any great urge to relive what ive paid good hard earned to watch.
basically, Sheehans got a great left foot on him and the air of slight arrogance of a guy who knows he is decent, he is comfortable out there in front of 20+ thousand, and when I went to stamford bridge a few weeks back for the cup match the bigger stage didnt faze him at all. he was directly in front of me for one set piece about 30 yards from where I was standing, and as he stood over it, and claimed it from his teammates, he was very assured looking and delivered a quality ball which his striker couldnt miss from. can play anywhere on the left.
all this may not yet be enough, and he can at times be sloppy high up the field, a touch over ambitious in the passing at times but it doesnt seem to affect his game if he gets a couple wrong.he also has taken a couple of rollickings from the CBs at times for various pieces of positioning or percieved lack of tracking back, but not often.
for example he could have comfortably made an angle for his CB last sat for a basic 10 yard ball, but he chose not to, his teammate conceded a throw as he had dwelt on it and leicester conceded from the setpiece. not all Sheehans fault, as the CB should have launched it earlier and leicesters defending was very poor thereafter, but if he had showed for it, it might all have been avoided.
over all, he is doing fine though, at least he is in the mix after being a forgotten man for all last season.
you seen much of him? leicester have been on sky a bit lately, watched any of those games?
Praise for McShane from Phil Thompson. "I like him. He's winning every header, every tackle...".
I hear Doyle scored a glancing header tonight against Liverpool. That's five I think so far in this year's Premiership, and as far as I can recall, all five have been headers. Some feat for a guy who's not big by modern forwards' standards. I've said it loads of times here but in this respect he's very like Larsson - similar physique, both excellent headers and both with excellent timing in the jump. His headed flick on last week made a goal for Kitson.
(Mods - is there not a Kevin Doyle thread? I did a search but couldn't find it)
Glancing is an understatement, the ball skimmed the top of his head/shoulder
See my post here if you want to see the goal

Steven Reid's comeback continues, although he was lucky not to be at least booked for a tackle on Scott Parker
leicester 1 west brom 2
Sheehan and Hayes were on the bench for this one, Sheehan lost the spot to Mattock, his England u21 equivalent, as the manager went 4-3-3, he may have opted for a more defensive player in the back 4, or he may just be having a look at all his new charges, or as some suggest the England u21 guy is for sale at the right price and the club were giving him exposure, as he has been atracting interest, most notably from rangers.
hard to know what the story is but what is for certain, Sheehans replacement lost his man for the opener and didnt cover himself in glory in open play and leicesters vital set piece threat was notable by its abscence without Sheehans delivery.
Hayes got an outing with 30 to play and announced himself by chasing a CB and closing him down with a determined run accross the edge of the pen area, the CB saw him coming and checked away but the determination of Hayes play went down well in the ground, after that he was involved in the game but didnt exert any great influence on it bar one run past 2 defenders, when he was hacked down on the edge of the area. he didnt give it away much (or at all, that i can recall), but was forced to check and play it back generally.
will be interesting to see if one or both of them make the 11 tonight away at ipswich.

Can't wait for Crafty's take on the penalty that led to Alan Lee's goal! Looked a shocker of a decision on TV.
Another goal for Walters - very cool finish, well taken goal.
