Ballyheane AFC

I would say that weekending 31.8.2008 would be a week that Castlebar Celtic would like not to be remembered, as this must be the darkest week they will remember.
It was soon to be a reality that they were not to entering a team into Eircom U-20 League, Which from there part must have been bad news.While some clubs in Mayo will say they had it coming. Over the last number of months They would have learned That Galway Utd and Sligo Rovers would have been Courting a numbers of there best talent at under 18 up to 20 years.Celtic for there part were hoping that the F.A.I. would relent and allow Celtic to enter into the U-20 League.
Now it looks like up to 8 players will leave for ether Galway or Sligo, this is the same F.A.I. who spent a week in Mayo talking up how successful football was in Mayo. Hope they would continue the great work in promoting grass roots football. It looks like bread eaten soon forgotten .It appears that John Delanney /co only consider Mayo as a feeder league for those who are around us such as Galway /Sligo.
This decision by The F.A.I. will put football back in Mayo By five years, not only for youths of the county but also our junior league, will deprived of the best players to play in there league. also to play for there county team.
It now has become clear that Galway /Sligo will now cherry pick the best players from Mayo, also K/Knock have also been hit with the lost of one the best goal keepers in the county in Michael Schlingerman at u-18.this also means that he will not play for his county also because of one bad decision by John Dell Boy and co.
It looks like Mayo is the forgotten County, after been made false promises to Celtic who took up the place last year in the Eircom U-21 league,We can only see if Dell boy will throw a life line to Mayo

Renovator from reading these forums it is known to most and certainly to me is that you dont have a clue of mayo football.....Name these 8 players renovator??Young Sclingermann is signing for Sligo because he attended open trials,he was not poached or as you say cherrypicked:confused:you are as use to this forum as is tits on a bull!!;)

its not 8 players but 6 anyway and i know that for a fact!!! no point mentioning names you will see soon enough who they are. it's a joke and i wouldn't blame the players for wanting to play in the eircom league, who wouldn't ???? players are going to lose out on playing for an eircom league team in mayo and renovator is right about john delaney coming and praising all the facilities in mayo but whats the point in having them if they are not put to use???

Two of those players were playing for Westport and were cherrypicked to Celtic and thats in addition to all the senior players they cherry picked from other ML clubs.

Since Dykes left the majority of their team has gone. They are now an average superleague team if that. It just shows you the loyalty that they have.

They have alienated their former players who left and are with other SL clubs.

The motto is nurture your local talent.

There no waffling here, I did state that some clubs would say they had it coming, and I do agree? that they Celtic didn't always behave and respect other clubs, However the two players you are talking naming Torphy and Fallon, were driven by one father's ego to do better.
My point is about the number of players leaving the county, not by who they play for. Your club could have taken up the opportunity, but you failed to.At what point as a club do you intend to raise the bar, or is just enough to win local titles. while I have no problem you doing that, but to criticised others want to play at a higher level is like taking a step backwards.
My point is that these players who leave this county to play in another county is lowering the standard of our game, plus the players are not available to our county teams, Should Celtic or any other club set out to play at higher level and players choose to play for them, that's what would attract any player who wishes to play at higher level, but to deprive a player would be the wrong reason to be in football and a selfish one.
Regards to the gray one only he can answer for what he did, not me.We can only sit and judge him.

Renno we have won the national title the FAI Junior Cup. I am sure the Westport United Foot is happy to consolidate its position and be a club of the community, what has happened at Celtic while the gray one was there has taken that away from them with the alienation of their local players.

The U20 league was supposed to be used as a stepping stone to the LOI, I think the club can sustain their presence in the U20 league I am not sure that a full LOI status is sustainable by them. Many of these U20 players wont make the grade anyway and you will find them back in the Mayo League in a few years.

I commend your club on winning National Titles. I have no doubt your club is happy to consolidate it position and be a club with in the community.
There are many out there would consider your club as a team rather than a club, but thats only general opinion.

I like to turn my attention to Tom Kelly comments in the Connaught, Shake up review the Super League. Have to say I do agree with him. its seem to be coming a mockery to the clubs who have played in it since it was set up.
If clubs who are promoted and can't take there place, its then time to look at the rules that govern them from taking there place, Its a choice between a bad rule and a team from 6th place in the lower league. One has to ask them self of which of the two is best severed.I believe a work shop is taking place soon its up to clubs to find a solution which will accommodate those who its best severed.

If Kilmore are good enough (as a 6th best team) to beat Bangor Hibs then it doesn't say alot about the super league, does it?? It says that the premier division is stronger than it looks :eek:

Any team losing 23 goals in 2 games, no matter what the opposition should not play at that standard, so hopefully kilmore do beat them and join us and S & F to make the super league stronger ;)

We have to have a pitch (don't have to own it I think) to play in the super league as far as I know. Astro not allowed in the super league.

I think we might be trying to share with another team, we'll see how it goes. Hopefully the issue is sorted soon...dread the thought of playing in the premier again!

Bangor hibs went up as second place which constitutes going up "on merit", you should really look up facts before posting, doesn't look so good ;)

We're not going up "on merit" but in accordance with mayo league rules, which is fine by me. We dont make the rules, but simply follow them!

Well its hard to follow that premier, more often than not a "B" team doesn't take its place. I didn't say directly they B,Hibs didn't win 2nd place I wasn't sure But I trust you that ur correct.
There is no written rule per say who is promoted or not
Its the powers of the L.M.C. league to say, formations of the leagues

I believe they have left because of a disagreement with a fellow member of the club, not as you put it progress. I do think to be fair to Ballyheane they are as good as any club in the football league, they provide the facilities better than most. They have youth program in place, what more have you got to offer,since you don't even have a pitch.
The two in question I believe are to be two Maughan, But you will have to get Mossy to confirm.

We may not have a pitch yet, but we have won 1 FAI Junior Cup and 6 Connacht Cups, and 5 superleague titles in the last 7 years. Your two players would not make the bench of Westport United. We have a youth programme in place where do you think that our senior team came from? They were brought through the ranks. Our players are taught to play football, we have 2 new additions to the squad in Phil Keegan and Gary Cunningham who would get into any team in the county and there are more coming through.

Castlebar use the "facilities" known as Milebush they do not own it but are located beside it. Mind you they are building a fine all weather pitch now.

Castlebar have lost all their players and if you have seen them play recently they are not great, they are on a major recruitment drive again trying to get players from other clubs to come to them.

Ballyheane has just a good a team as Celtic at the moment, it is not a move up but sideways.

Yes you lost U20 players two of which were from Westport not to mention about 5 or 6 senior players? Gary Price (Swinford), Gerry Burke & Joey Maloney (Ballinrobe) etc....

Won1 - Beat Bangor Hibs 7-2
Drew 1 - Drew with Erris 4-4
Lost 2 - Lost to Ballyheane 4-3 (you drew 4-4 with them earlier on this term
& Erris 4-2

Celtic are 4th in the league
Ballyheane will finish in 6th

Not much in the difference.

how have we lost all our players? we still have a quality team, the team has been a work in progress since dec took over, we haven't fielded the same team in any match, that shows the strength and depth in the squad.ger mcdonagh and aidan walsh and robert hennelly to come back into the squad after their achievements with the minor team, 3 quality players, germcdonagh especially who was supposed top go on trial to portsmouth a few months ago but twisted his ankle!!! how many of ye'r so called underage superstars have been offered any eircom league teams?? how many have been abroad?? how many underage leagues have ye won in the last few years?? celtic have won every age group in the last few years and have 3 under 12 teams and 3 u-14 teams, 2 u-16 and 2 u-18, all which have quality players involved!!! please stop talkin through your hole and always sayin things about every other club, stick to your own club good lad, cos ya should be taking a serious look at it if you're on about your f.a.i and connaught cups, how far have ye gone in the last few years in these cups since ye won the f.a.i????

How many of your players have actually made it at the highest level? We have a player who has actually played in the Eircom league - Ray McLoughlin.

You should have that many underage teams sice your population is 11,000 ours is 5000.

Winning at underage is great and all that, what have they done at senior level - nothing. Even in spite of recruiting players from all over the county (which have nearly all left) you have won sfa.

What have you won recently?

All you could do is get to the semis in both cups

we have won a cup, the westaro, it mightn't be much but its not sfa!!!! s'n'f have 3 cups!!!!! all ye have is 1 so i dont know what you are on about. who knocked ye out of the 2 cups???????? and don't say they don't matter because everybody plays every game to win!!! oh wow raymcloughlin, is that all??? thats the difference exactly, we produce players who are good enough for higher levels and if these players stayed who knows what we would be like!!! i've seen better teams in mayo than westport 2!! who will be better than ye in a few years i'm not just all celtic all the time other clubs have to get a mention leveller, not just the greats of westport who won a cup a few years ago and are still living in the past over it!!!it just shows how much the court house helped because ye have done absolutely nothin in it since!!! you're a serious serious child, you'd make anyone sick, only one team in mayo, come on the covies!!!!
