That's fantastic!
Just the 26th of the season for Murphy this afternoon.
Ipswich need at least three new defenders if they go up this season, which I doubt they will. They have been absolutely shocking at the back any time I have watched them.
Brentford just made it 2-0 , meaning if derby equalise in their game then Ipswich slip out of the playoff places
What a first goal at Blackburn. Pretty emphatic penalty too.
Mick McCarthy 'astounded' Patrick Bamford crowned Championship Player of the Year ahead of Daryl Murphy

Seems an odd one ok with Murphy having a better strike rate and not a loanee but a genuine Championship player.
Good interview with Murphy.

I believe the article is wrong about how many PL goals he has though.

Murphy linked with a £4m move to Cardiff.
Conor Hourihane linked with Cardiff, Leeds and Huddersfield.
£4m from a Championship club for a 32-year-old?

Cardiff pull out of race for Murphy.
Murphy one of several Irish players linked with West Brom along with Walters, Clark and Brady. Of course McClean has already signed.
Christ, is he that good? Am I missing something here? Rickie Lambert went from Southampton to Liverpool for four million pounds this time last year when he was the same age......and he was a proven goalscorer at the Premier League level.
maybe something to do with his (Lamberts) contract situation? i.e. not much left to run...
If Murphy's goals helped them to promotion then it would be money well spent but, yeah, it's serious money for a Championship veteran.

According to RTE Daryl has signed a new contract with Ipswich.
Probably for the best in my opinion. Would a player of his age and past performances have produced what would be expected for a fairly big transfer fee.
Looks set to miss the upcoming internationals
At the risk of sounding (very) harsh this is probably a blessing in disguise I think, unless we get a string of injuries to our other strikers.Quote:

Back in goalscoring form last night, scoring both in Ipswich's 2-0 win against Blackburn. The second one was really well taken. Goals here-
Any timeline for his return?
On his way to Newcastle.
Rafa seems to have developed a taste for Irish players.
Mick Mack's take on it - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37205539
"I told the lads 'come on, let's get the elephant out of the room - Murphy's going to Newcastle, let's get on it'."
Like selling Coals to Newcastle. Well it would be if he was called Coals.
But it is a move which could put him in the top flight next season.

I wonder why he wasn't even in the squad for the game against QPR last night.
This kind of explains it, although you'd think he'd have been fine for yesterday.
Quote:
Murphy and Atsu arrived back late in the week from international duty so were not considered for the Rams clash but, having had a few extra days with the squad, the duo - plus Lazaar - could be in line for an appearance at Loftus Road on Tuesday night. However, Benitez will first analyse the condition of those players involved at the iPro Stadium - as well as the fitness of Lazaar, Murphy and Atsu - before deciding which Magpies will travel down to west London.
But all three will be considered - while DeAndre Yedlin, who netted his first United goal off the bench at Derby, could also make his full debut.
