Euro 2016. The only drawback of that kit is the luminous orange in the collar
I'll go for 88. Should be a close run thing.
Euro88 cos I'm a man of taste.
Votes taken all evening - and then the final tomorrow!
It's got a lot to prove.
It's thought out every move.
You'll wonder where it's been -
But, like, it's been 32 years!
Euro '88 jersey for me.
Result is in - 5-3 to the Euro 88 kit. Was never more than a vote in it until the very last vote.
And so to the final. One simple question - which is our best ever kit? Italia 90, or the Euro 88 qualifying kit?

1990-92
Beat 2017-18 12-0
Beat 2001-03 7-2
Beat 2000-01 8-1
Beat 1988-90 6-3
1986-87
Beat 1983-85 9-1
Beat 1994-95 7-2
Beat 1985-86 7-5
Beat 2016 4-3
It's Italia 90 and we all know it!
Italia 90 ftw
86/87
Italia 90.
Italia 90
It's close but I'll go for 86/87, it's a nicer clean shade of green and the Italia 90 has a design flaw - the collar stripe.
Italia90 the clear winner!
The orange stripe on the collar is a garnish on an impeccable meal.
The arrogance of some people to make exclamation mark enhanced pronouncements that their opinion is the clear winner.
Italia 90!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Just to annoy geysir.;))
But I am right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
two excellent shirts.
will go with italy 90 though
88 for me!
86 - 87
Italia 90
Italia 90 for me too actually.
The right shade of green. A bit of background stuff going on. Just the right amount of orange to liven it up. And a proper crest (which of course 86/87 has as well)
As an away shirt, how about a white shirt with a flamboyant Peru styled sash, green instead of red.
I feel a song coming on.
My father wore something similar
Sorry Bonnie. But here's how it is. They're both excellent, but i was thoroughly p*ssed off with that mediocre Euro 88 shirt getting as far as it did based on fond memories of a header against England and that volley.
I came to the conclusion that if all other things seem equal, the one that wasn't used at a big tournament must be better, as it got there without the benefit of fond memories.
A result!
Nigel has managed to vote for a kit that didn't make it (88) - but I've taken that as a vote for the Euro 88 qualifying kit.
It doesn't make a difference anyway. On a clear score of 9-5, foot.ie's all-time favourite home kit is...
...the Euro 92 qualifying kit!

A valiant effort from the 86-87 kit; wouldn't have seen it as a finalist to be honest, though it's a decent kit.

And one last reminder too of our worst-ever home kit, the Euro 2012 with the ill-advised hooped socks (and I don't much care for the vertical stripe pattern on the jersey either to be honest)

Thanks to all for taking part! Pencil in March - maybe the week before the start of the World Cup qualifiers - for the next installment, as we look at Ireland's best (and worst) away kits.
Worth noting I took some of the photos from SportsJoe.ie, which ran a similar article a couple of years ago. The results are here, with the 86/87 kit coming out tops, and the Fr Dougal kit last.
Thanks for doing that stu, brightened up a few days..:D
Great work Stu. Very enjoyable.
Look forward to the away kit.
I'm thinking Euro 2016 away kit could be high on the list
Imo the top 3 in the poll were the best but I can't say I ever took much note of the shirts before unless they were rank rotten e.g. the recent dark dirty green phase and the one with the 2 huge white stripes over the shoulder.
I kinda like the Macedonia kit. There's some awful charcoal kits that I've have below it.
My fondness for the 92 qualifying kit has already been stated. Feels worth mentioning the away version Alan McLoughlin scored in at Windsor Park on that night in November '93.
The gun metal grey against Wales under Stan was as drab as that era
