Throwing stones at feenagh players? ..what sort of crew are playing with NCW B??..crazy carry on
You are 100% right in this, it's a joke. I live away and love to take in a game when I'm around but have given up on its & accuracy of Weekly Observer info too. Messed around by it too many times.
Fixtures and venues and KO times, in this day and age with the gadgets and technology available need to be right, no reason they shouldn't be. Costly ? You can update a Web/FB page off most mobile phones these days. As I said above, I use it pre games, or I'd like to, it's fine if you are in the know or with a club, but it shouldn't be assumed everyone is. The credibility of the league can't be being helped by this every week.
Ya I see all fixtures involving newcastle this weekend has TBA written where the referees name should be. so looks like its still not sorted. personally I don't see how they can resolve the issues because if referees don't feel safe doing games then that's a very big problem indeed
I feel sorry to a lot of the NCW players but there is and has been for a while a rough element about some of their teams.
While I wouldnt care what they get up down the alleyways of NCW on a Saturday night its when they start to bring that behavior onto the field that trouble starts.
The club should come down hard on players who threw stones at Feenagh players (if that is true), I'm talking a 3 year ban.
It is also down to the league to come down hard on the club, throw the club(s) out of the league for the rest of the season.
While no club is without a few bad eggs, a lot of stories about NCW seem to pop up.
Were croom united thrown out of district league not so long ago for a similar incident
The league should do something about that. Ban all the players that did it. It would be unfair on the other players if they were thrown out. Give those people a serious ban like 3-5 years ban. As someone said you would feel sorry for the innocent people in the team and for the other ncw teams whos games have been called off.
The Feenagh thing might not be the only reason, wasn't there an incident where stones were thrown at a ref's car in the carpark after a NCW B team game a while ago as well. Hopefully the club and the league will see sense and look after the fellas that are causing this. No ref.No game.
It is with great sadness that I've learned of the passing of Bernie "Bobo" McNamara. Bobo was a true gentleman both on and off the pitch. a stalwart of the Adare teams of the late 70's and early 80's. He also played with Kildimo and Kilfinny. He captained Adare to their first ever trophy back in 1976 and was an example to all with his gentle approach and fantastic wit. A pleasure to have played with him as a youngster. RIP.
Just to clarify a few things regarding NCW AFC. There has been no proof of any NCW player throwing stones at an opposition player or a referee. Some poor judgement from a couple of B Team player bad mouthing a ref has occurred and the club was fined 100 euro (which it paid) by the Desmond League. The reason that all NCW games were called off last weekend was because the refs themselves felt that the fine from the Desmond league wasn't severe enough and refused to ref NCW AFC games because of it. This is now an issue between the Desmond League and the refs and NCW AFC players are suffering because of it. I firmly believe that refs (good or bad) should always be shown respect because we have no game without them but I feel that the action they took last weekend was over the top.
Any update on the NCW games for d weekend ???
They're fixed alright but there's no referee down for the junior fixtures... not sure what to make of that! On another note if this rain keeps going and there are more fixtures off we might as well hang up the boots.
How is it that rhyme goes again? 'Rain Rain go away, come again... actually don't come again... just F@%K off'!!

The Desmond League have lost one of the best refs in the league as a result of all this carry on, Donie O'Gorman resigned last Friday, he felt very strongly about this incident and was disgusted with how the DL have handled it. €200 fine reduced down to €100 on appeal, bit of a soft fine if whats being reported did actually happen. Hopefully it gets sorted soon. Refs down for this weekends games so might be alright.
magpie 75 i would agree with you that it hasn't been proven but why would referees make this up.donie o'gorman has retired on the strength of it.just seems odd this kind of reaction from the refs if its only verbal abuse.i'm sure they've heard all that before.
Donie o gorman has retired?? Best referee in the league for years and it was proven when he was the referee in the fai junior cup final few years back...
I was at the Feenagh v NCW B game. The stones were thrown at the Feenagh dressing room (container), narrowly missing a few lads who were standing beside it. The ref got a lot of abuse as he left the field, particularly from one guy who followed him nearly as far as the gate to the road, same guy was also roaring at Feenagh players and spectators. At the corresponding game in NCW earlier in the season, stones were thrown at the ref's vehicle as he left. Surprised it has taken this long for things to come to a head with this team, as quite a number of them have being trying to intimidate refs and opposition players for a number of seasons now.
Were ye not playing ncw the weekend ferry ranger?? Were they up to their same tricks haha
Is that true about Donie O'Gorman? What a shame if it is, in fairness hes a great ref! Must have been pretty terrible what happened, for him to take such a drastic step.
Feenagh player got injured, ball kicked out, ball kicked back to NCW keeper, Feenagh player ran towards keeper, wouldn't have stopped his clearance though, before he got any way near the keeper he was manhandled to the ground, free kick awarded to Feenagh which they scored from to leave final score 2-2.Quote:
I suppose it doesn't matter a whole pile but any idea what it was all over? What was the final score of that game?
Sure why was he running towards the keeper?? I know there's no rule but sportsmanship dictates, you pass the ball back, clap, play on! I can see why the N.C.W players weren't best pleased but by the sounds of it the ref had no option but to award the free kick... hardly his fault.
This will rumble on for a while yet! Will it have any effect on the Hogan Cup Final? 3 officials and all that...
I agree with you there sexyfootball. Shouldn't have ran towards the keeper if the ball was kicked out for an injured feenagh but as sexyfootball said the referee had to give the free kick if the player was fouled . Why would it have an effect on the hogan cup final?
As you said, ref was completely blameless, had to give a free. As I said, the Feenagh player wasn't going to impede the keeper's clearance, he was running at the keeper from an angle when he was dragged down.Quote:

The ball past 2 ncw defenders who could have got it if they tried but were wasting time so he had every right to go for it
The only reason I mentioned the Hogan Cup final is N.C.W. are in it, will there be any issue with regards to officials? There's usually 4 for finals isn't there? Maybe some of them may feel like sticking by there fellow referee Donie O'Gorman, or has the issue re refs been resolved?
I know the refs aren't always right or even mediocre in some cases...!! But as Magpie said without them we'd have no games. They deserve some bit of respect from players and if incidents like this reoccur I wouldn't blame any man for walking away!
I wouldn't say the issue has been resolved, the DL are still investigating the Feenagh inisident but the referee's have been told by their board that they cannot boycott games so like they did last weekend they will continue to ref the games from here on in. They also have a meeting tonight between themselves and their hoping they can get Donie O'Gorman to change his mind, that remains to be seen.
Any result or match report from the game last nite ???
