Have any of the teams that are left in the comp won it before
Nope.
Ballynanty Rovers are the only side left in the competition that previously played in the final. That last happened in 1983. No Connacht side have competed in the final since 1941 when Galway Bohs were beaten in the final. This Sunday will give an indication whether that cycle may be broken, and Galway Hibs looks to be the team in pole position to do it but Westport United cannot be discounted either after their 6-2 thrashing of Crescent United in the Connacht Cup. :ball:Quote:

Reports coming out of Westport on the Crescent United game is that Westport destroyed them in the first twenty minutes with some stunning football and that 10-2 would have being a better reflection on the game. The squad form is reported to be getting better with each game. :ball:
Westport will not win the cup they will be beaten by killester(the eventual winners) they think they've the hard work done just like pike did and will be beaten. There is to much talk about them. :ball: :ball:Quote:

If Westport upset Killester United on Sunday, the winner will come from the Ballynanty/Carew game, in which I think the Balla will scrape through.:ball:Quote:

Hibs are good things
I can correct myself and say that Waterford Crystal played in the final of 1997. That came from glancing too quickly on a less than user friendly webpage on the www.fai.ie website. :o :eek:Quote:

Lads , Ladbrokes have posted the prices for the matches over 90mins this Sunday .. Couple of interesting prices out there ...
4/5 Galway Hibs 11/5 Draw Bellurgan 3/1
5/4 Wat Crys 11/5 Draw Park Rgrs 7/4
5/4 Killester 11/5 Draw Westport 7/4
5/1 Carew Pk 12/5 Draw Ballynty 1/2
What do the Carew Park lads think of that ... Definitely over priced and very tempting!!
Also the bookies seem to favour Glwy Hibs but have only gone with the home advantage to sway the other two games !!
Your comments lads ????
He asked have any of the remaining teams won the cup before not if any of um have played in the final!!Quote:

5/1 in a local derby! Are these people on drugs? It is hardly a match between Azerbaijan against Holland where you would get them type of odds. Carew Park at 2/1 at worst. :eek:Quote:

I'm sure that the Bellurgan boys would think that the boys from the West are a little overconfident. A point to Mike Rafferty; no one in Connacht has won or got to the final of the F.A.I. Junior Cup in 2005. There may be no one left from the province in the competition come 5:00 on Sunday. One of the golden rules in life is to never play leapfrog with a unicorn. One who believes in their own hype is the one with egg on their face. :ball:
Bookies are gonna take a massive hit on Hibs. I know a lot of shrewdies and they have massive bets at 4/5. When the draw was made, they were gonna back them thinking 1/3 but 4/5 is a giveaway. Get on now before they stop taking bets.
Best of Luck to all teams in this weekends FAI
Killester

Any late change of minds in your predictions? If my mind is inclined to change, it could be Bellurgan Utd catching Galway Hibs cold or Carew Park coming through in the unpredictable nature of a derby game against Ballynanty. What are your final thoughts before the teams go down to battle on Sunday? :ball:  :ball:

park beaten 1-0 away to crystal, carew 3-2 balla aet, any other scores?
Galway Hibs beat Bellurgan 2-0 in Terryland Park and Killester lost 1-0 to Westport Utd in Haddon Park. No real big shock as such in the quarter finals, given that the odds were very fine between Killester/Westport and Carew/Balla being a local derby. There was a rumour that there was 3,500 people at the Carew match. Carew Park are the team to beat at this stage. What's your thoughts? :ball:Quote:

The game was actually on in Hibs own pitch in Bohermore, not Terryland. The first half was quiet enough with hardly any chances for either team until the last 5 mins of it, Hibs had 2 shots on target and Bellurgan were unlucky as well when one of their shots were cleared off the line. Hibs looked like a different team for the 2nd half and went ahead shortly after the restart. Their 2nd goal came about 5 mins before the final whistle.Quote:

westport are nothing special, killester will be kicking themselves with the way they performed.
But they came and got the result and ye cannot take that form them
westport will not get past the next round, not a hope in hell, they are very average, what a wasted opportunity by killester,
well done to carew totally deserved it
fair play to westport
3 away victories now
ya have to agree, carew had far more fight and heart and wanted it more on the day, paddy koyce and albert slattery were exceptional
What was the name of the grey haired fella at the back for Carew. He was very good and only made 1 mistake all day which he even got away with...Quote:
