good man, if vacuous views are your thing then have at it. I'd sooner listen to guys with a bit of knowledge than the tripe being peddled by those channels...

Its not about "vacuous views", its about integrity and a generally positive approach. If RTE say something, you know theres an angle with it. For example they slated Sunderland after they beat Spurs and immediately me and wife looked at each other and said "there ya go! Sunderland are the team this year who they hate." And they will now work on them week in week out relentlessly because thats the decision that was made. Same with Leeds when they were good years ago - not a bad word EVER on RTE, while Liverpool were treated like idiots back then (dispite winning that treble that time). Same with UTD and Ronaldo last season - nothing good to say.
They just decide who they like and who they dont and thats that. Thats not proper critique cause noone is always good or always bad.
It sickens me that people actually take that approach seriously.
Well I watched teh Spurs Sunderland game and I could not believe Sky raving about them. I told my brother that Sunderland were very poor and that they would be found out if they continued to play like that and they could not pass the ball. Low and behold Johnny Giles says the same on RTE and sees beyond the usual Sky hype and the fact he did not have the chairman sitting beside him and pointed out what anybody who knows anthing about football could see, which was that Sunderland could not pass the ball with any sort of precision or accuracy. A mate who was over at the game said the same to me the other day.
Spurs were very slow with teh ball but clearly had more ability. Anyway I digress but basically Giles was bang on again.
to be fair, the "everything is illuminated" myopia served up by Andy Grey and the head cheerleader masquerading as a critic that is Jamie Redknapp is far inferior to anything the panel on RTE have ever done. FourFourTwo and When Saturday Comes both commented favorably on The Premiership on RTE compared to MOTD and Sky Sports last season.
Give me Gilsey and the lads any day.
No sign of the team for tonight yet. I suppose this is due to Stan arriving late rather than a ploy to keeping the Danes guessing.
ya met up with them late last night.
Hasn't Kilbane been playing left back for Wigan so far this season? surely this would be an option for ireland perhaps? Because I don't see/wouldn't like him to feature in centre mid for us, but his aerial ability is a positive for the team and if he was capable, would far rather him play left back than move Finnan out of RB
Doyle with a hat-trick tonight
With Kilbane playing so well at left back, good old Stan will probably start him at right back and play Finnan at left back
Halloran should be there for a friendly FFS. Basically the usa tour meant nothing. I thought after that hed be given another shot against higher opposition, where the result isnt vital. Obviously stan has other ideas.
How I'd line up tonight as a result of all the pull outs....
-----------Henderson----------
Finnan---Dunne---O'Shea---Kelly
McGeady---Potter---A Reid---Hunt
-------Doyle---------Keane------
I imagine Stan will opt for Kilbane instead of Potter.
Suppose Staunton's gonna play Finnan at left back again?!? Why should he be the one shunted around to accommodate Carr, who's done nothing for years now. Its decisions like this, and giving Keane the arm band, that give me no faith whatsoever in Staunton.
Without Carsley we have a problem with the holding midfielder role protecting the defence.I would love to see Gibson get a run.
what time is kick off?
I assume you are speaking hypothetically there?Quote:
