As regards the national womens league congrats on the selection, there is some very good women soccer players in Mayo, will playing in the league mean you can't play in the Mayo league?

No, not at all. But they will be 2 very different squads. The Mayo League squad will be very much for the up and coming young talent as a path to the National Squad as far as I know
Good result last night considering who was not available. Still in our own hands which is all you can ask for going into the last two games.

The Castlebar Celtic U-16 team maintained their 100% start of the season after a wonderful display of football in Celtic Park on Monday evening over a gallant K&K Utd side. This victory was built on the midfield dominance of Irish International Noe Baba, Philip Ruddy, Darren Murray and the impressive Stephen McDermott who never put a foot wrong all evening. The stars of the show were hat-trick hero’s Cathal Lisibach and Jason Hunt who were unstoppable and their link up play was top class. Celtic when in at half time 4-1 up thanks to two goals from Hunt and one each from Baba and Lisibach. The second half saw Utd put the Celtic defence of goalkeeper Adam Chambers whose handling and distribution was from the top drawer, Darragh Coll, Mark Howley, Gary Walsh and Sean Conlon under tremendous pressure but found it impossible to break them down. The game was put beyond K&K Utd once Philip Ruddy coolly finished to the net following good work from Murray and McDermott and both Hunt and Lisibach went on the complete their hat-tricks before the end of the game. The management team of Ioseph O’Reilly, Ger & Ronan O’Boyle were delighted with the football produced by this talented group of players and they remain top of the Mayo Premier League.
Must admit I seemed to have got it wrong about the ref for last Saturday’s game. It seemed he had a great game which was wonderful to hear. I saw Declan’s praise for the ref on the Connaught today and he was correct in saying he was only interested in what was going on the pitch and not the ground like some refs.
The Celtic U-12 Girls team maintained their 100% league record following a hard fought but deserved victory over perversely unbeaten Manulla in a packed Celtic Park lat Tuesday evening. It was the visitors who started the stronger and they put a lot of pressure on the excellent defence of goalkeeper Allanah Courell who is getting better with every game, Abbey Waldron, Saoirse McCabe and Player of the Match Rachel Baynes but just could not get the break through. Once the Hoops midfield of Leah Moran, Kate Chambers and Maeve Gallagher when introduced got to grips with their Manulla counterparts, the home side began to exert pressure on the visitors defence. It was Manulla who took the lead on 13 minutes following a defence mix up and their striker was on hand to finish to the empty net. This goal spurred on the home side and the lively Rachel Lammond was causing the visitors defence plenty of problems and she superbly levelled the game on 16 minutes following good work from Saoirse McCabe. The second-half was dominated by the Hoops with Rachel Baynes controlling the game from the back but the Hoops found it difficult to breakdown the hard working Manulla defence. The defining moment of the game came with 10 minutes remaining when the excellent Maeve Gallagher was put through by Rachel Lammond and she coolly slotted the ball to the corner of the Manulla net. Manulla did try to get back into the game but just could not mount an attack of substance and found themselves pinned back in their half right to the end.

It was home side who started the brighter but found the Hoops defence of goalkeeper Allanah Courell, Leah Moran, Abbey Waldron and Rachel Baynes in top form and Kilmore just could not create a decent opening. In the Hoops first attack the dangerous Rachel Lammond coolly round the last defender before slotting the ball to the corner of the Kilmore net for the only goal in the first half. The Celtic midfield of Kate Chambers and the impressive Maeve Gallagher were not allowing the bigger home counterparts a foothold. The introduction of Aoife and Grainne O’Neill upped their team’s performance and both put in excellent displays. The second half saw the Hoops dominate the early exchanges and they went two up following good work from Aoife O’Neill and Rachel Lammond who played in the hard working Maeve Gallagher who smashed the ball home from close range. Jean Benson, Lucy Tuohy and Anna O’Donovan were all introduced and they all made telling contributions to this vital victory. Kilmore pulled a goal back from a superb free kick with five minutes remaining. But this set back drove the Celtic girl’s on and once again Rachel Lammond was on hand to secure all three points with another top class finish and not to be outdone Maeve Gallagher got her second a minute later that her overall play deserved.

Juniors: Both junior teams going well in their respective leagues as we know, with the Superleague lads hoping to get a vital win next weekend. Poor result in the cup however.
U-18 A: Won every game so far with a limited squad, going strong, top of their group and a win tonight v Killala would be a huge step towards a top 2 semi final spot. Cian Brennan going to Sligo was a big blow. Best of luck Cian! In the last 8 of the Quigley Cup
U-18 B: Losing to Ballyheane stopped a decent run of form, and the loss of Mark Nolan from their squad will be felt. Home to Swinford tonight in the league. Last 8 of Quigley Cup
U-17 A: Will be playing FAI Competitions soon enough.
Under-16 A: Top of the league but had a disappointing loss last week against Ballina. Big game Saturday away to Iorras could clinch the league title effectively.
Under-16 B: Tipping away, mid table. No real chance of promotion left.
Under-14: Lost to Westport last night which hampers their efforts at retaining the U-14 title. 4 points behind with 5 games to play.
Under-12 A: 2 points from 2 games. Still in the Cup.
Under-12 B: 3 points from 4 in their division.
Under-12 C: 7 points from 5 games, a decent return, 2 new young coaches in charge too.
Girls/Women
Juniors: 3 games to play, 1 point nehind Ballyglass on top, but have to play Ballyglass twice. Interesting run in! Cup Final this Sunday too.
Under-17: Different Under-17 season starting up soon
Under-16: Going well, lost 2 games but in a cup semi final. Good chance of winning a second league title in as many years. Very young team.
Under-14: Last 4 of cup, 2nd in the league with a game in hand, 3 points behind Manulla. Another young, strong team with a good chance of winning silverware.
Under-12: Terrific little team. Last 4 of the cup and top of the league at the half way point. 3 clear of Manulla in second.

Must congrats the Celtic under 18 b team ..... A fine team and even though we beat them tonight .... we were very lucky. They are a lovely side and play very good football.
