Limerick Leader Team of Season 2007/08

Just been contacted by Pat Sheehan of the Leader asking to nominate players for team of the season in each Division.
Any suggestion?

Can't count Jamie Enright,only played 10 premier games this season,its based or should be on the entire season.

But ya it will cause problems because say person Z watches team X all season,then more than likely the majority of the players they pick will be from team X because its the only bunch of players they've seen play consistently all season,which means they'll be influenced by those and in turn who they pick. Its a bad topic to bring on here.

The lads from the Leader will likely pick the most fair team since they've seen a nice mixture of games.

if there was a better right full around i would leave jamie out but i just could,nt think of 1 apart from maybe dave dunphy who in my opinion is wasted at right full.

The Fact Jamie's not played a game for Pike at right back says it all really..Played what 3 games for the OT at right back maximum.Has to be Dunphy,no one else stands out in the league.

And the team is picked or has been in recent years on where a player plays for the majority of the season.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Pat Barry would get on any Prem team in town, bar none, and that includes Pike & Balla.

You cant tell me that he is not better than Brock, O'Sullivan, Wallace of Balla, or Mitchell, Finucane, Moloney or Boyle of Pike, when he clearly is.

think that team is pretty well spead between the teams aswell.

I would agree with most of these players from what iv seen but any time iv seen aisling Mescall has not played? Anyone know why or where does he play right back or centre back? Also who is McComack from Wembley? Seen them a few times and he has never stood out to me? Rest of the team fairly spot on.

mike ahern has been the best right full in town this year another player who when you think of the amount of different positions he has played and has done well is frankie lee,not everyones cup of tea but he has played well this season.........................

Im actually asking a question cos I havent seen ye play much this year. From what I gather he was injured early in the season?

no lads not takin the ****, these players with a few others from teams from the lower end the table surely have to be mentioned. mike has scored important goals for s/vile ones that could keep them up. same for pat barry. as for robbie in goals well change him with any keeper in the town and put them in goals behind star's defence and i am sure they would not do as good. The team of the season should be players from all over the league and not just the top two. it's too easy to pick 11 players from balla and pike.

Well said,couldn't agree more with the last line especially. I'm sure Pat,Brian and Aidan will be make a decent selection in the coming weeks.

also leo wong and hef from div 1a must come to mention as they are on the oscar team or is there better than these two. if so why they not on the oscar t team

I 2 would have to agree with this comment and again especially the last line..Some of the players in the other teams put in just as much an effort as the so called top 4 so why not have a few other in it..Mike mon has played every game this year for summerville bar the ones he was away on honeymoon..Has patched in with 8 goals as well ffrom midfield so that aint a bad return...Pat barry again tries his heart out every game and is a very good and consistant player bar his temperment...Robbie is a good keeper as well..Played international i think underage and although he gave it up for a few years he is gettin back to his best...

and there is still a possibility these players will be playing 1A next year and with all due respect i cant see many prem clubs knocking at their to play prem if so be the case

iagree that the team of the season should be based on the whole league,if there are players in those teams that are the best in the league in there position,surely the team of the season should be 11 players who are the best in there position regardless of who they play for,and if it means that there is no one in the team from the bottom clubs so be it,no offence to anyone mentioned but i don't think mike mon is one of the best midfielders in the division,nor do i think the star keeper is the best in the division,besides i could be wrong but i don't think he's played for the whole season has he?

No he was with abbey at the start of the season i think..He played pre-season with the boro though i think?? Could be wrong

You cannot say he is better than the above mentioned players, if he was then he would be playing with pike or balla instead of fighting relegation with star year in year out.

It's easier to play for a side like star were he's treated like a good player than it is to play for a top side were he has to fight for his place in the team.
