Ha thats brilliant. Football is our religion, the cross is our church, caulfield is our saviour.
unfortunetly im gona be missing this one:(
That is fantastic.
That is brilliant, pity more clubs wouldnt follow corks model and actually put some money into promoting games!
Excellent from Cork. All they need now is some loolah of a priest to denounce it and add another 500 to the gate.

Loving the Wally with the Brolly analogy.
What's this about? The pitch was awful in the first half but it was noticeably better once they hosed it at half time. If anything, the watering helped Rovers as the ball was no longer bouncing all over the place every time a long ball bounced off the pitch.
And another......
Haven't Dundalk been watering the half they attack in since the beginning of last season?
Old news man.
Yep, they only watered the Bohs second half penalty area at half time a few weeks ago in Oriel. The groundsman got some stick from the Bohs crowd.
Water metering should sort it out for next season.
I honestly don't see how this is an issue. Surely it's up to any club to decide how their own pitch is managed. I've been at games in England where the sprinklers will come on at half time on one end of the pitch only.
Seems to me that Croly has been taking lessons from Roddy on how to deflect attention from your own teams performance. I don't know why he was bothered anyway as Rovers kept the ball in the air for the whole game.
FFS - it's a groundsman using a garden hose - how much impact does anyone seriously think that has on a 3G pitch over a ten minute period?
Its about as effective as an ashtray on a motorbike
If it winds Croly and the Rovers ensemble up to that extent, then I hope it continues on Friday night (along with more Queen songs for when Pats visit next)
This was on our forum earlier;
Pitch Watering System
Rule 14.02. The Pitch Watering schedule must be communicated by the home Club at the matchday organisational meeting. The pitch must be watered evenly and not only in certain areas. As a general rule pitch watering must cease 60 minutes before kickoff. However pitch watering may also take place after that time if the referee and both clubs agree, and provided it takes place
a) Between 10 and 5 minutes before kickoff
b) During halftime (for a maximum of 5 minutes)
c) The referee is entitled to request changes to the schedule
Do Dundalk bring a few watering cans with them for the away games, for some sly selective pitch watering, seeing as the away form is better than the home form?
Charlie - you are a master of the understatement. Roddy has already decreed that it is the worst in the world!
The common denominator is that Roddy and Croly both came to Oriel to play hoofball. The surface gives a definite advantage to teams who want to play football (an incisive passing game, so to speak). All the bull$hite about cowardly challenges or garden hoses wont change that
No-one like us!!! We don't care!
The end Rovers were shooting into was watered aswell, They were in clear view of the Chip Van whilst doing it when I was getting the HT grub
I remember a long time ago when Oldham under Joe Royle were doing well over in England they used to play on a plastic pitch. Everyone believed it was an advantage to them, but they also had good players and played an exciting style of soccer and also scored a lot of goals. While I lived closer to much more bigger/fashionable clubs at the time, I did go to watch them a couple of times, passing through Manchester on my way. It was in ways an exciting time to be going to football matches; fanzines had become popular, and the fans also had a short of fashion scene going on with their hairstyles and how they dressed (influenced a lot by the popular music of Manchester at the time) and it was not too expensive to get into games. But anyway teams going to Oriel would be better off being more attacking minded as them the ball will be in Dundalk's half most of the time.
Also reports seem to suggest that Bohs under Heary are playing some dire stuff similar to Fenlon's style of play. This is sad after all the progress and good work done by the club in the last 2 years, as even the most dedicated supporter will find it difficult to keep going to games if negative rubbish is whats being played on the pitch.
Pretty sure Barcelona do it in every game in the Nou Camp. They water the half that they will be playing into to speed up the play. It is called home advantage after all. It's similar to how some teams have the ball boys speeding things up for the home team to give them an advantage.
Tommy Tiernan stream of conciousness stuff (without Tommy Tiernan)
Coachloads of Shamrock Rovers fans in Newry today as I was passing through. Busy night for the stewards tonight.
Did you spot any umbrellas?
This old nugget again. As was said at the time our rather mischievous PA announcer did it to see what reaction if any he would get and he got a good old laugh out of it. He also played the champions league theme as teams ran out on the pitch too which im surprised hasnt been added to the faux outrage espoused by some here. Listen hard to his choice of pre match and ht music as if it isnt defeaning supporters there is chuckle to be had. If he could get something on hosepipes i'd bet there would be a ode to TC tonight too.
Another super result for Roddy's men on the road.
