So is this now a must win game, already?
Or will that be Harps away the week after?
Could look a very messy table in two weeks time if we blow these two.
Predictions, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls ?
I am thinking a draw maybe.

If Scully still in charge loss, 3- 1 Wexford.
If Wexford keep it on the ground a play ball I won't be at all surprised with a loss.
Like they always do they will scrape a win and then pretend everything is perfect again.
Wexford win followed by a harps win, he should have been gone last Sat morning but the delay will damage the club more.
They wont lose to them they will win a few get in a position to go top again have a big game and yet again Scully will hide and it will be a disaster....And he still wont be sacked then either.
Thats unless the players are now totally fed up with him and from talking to some that wouldn't be too surprising.
I'd be surprised if we win, we've had a few lucky wins so far this season and this would be the game I would have doubts over, well if this isn't the turning point of our season it'll be a long tough season.
Wexford 2-2 Limerick
I think there is some history between urself and scully hes not the only one to blame, players are moaning and not putting it in they can change results on the pitch, the chairman is to take a share of the blame but i think they will win the next two matches.
Have a bad feeling it's going to get worse before it gets any better. Hope I'm wrong though.
We have to take into consideration it's probably a tough call to make to sack him too. I'm sure Pat O Sullivan and the board have built up a decent relationship over the last number of years so it can be hard to just walk in and say right your out. That and the pay he would need to get.
Which is why the person that gave him a 3 year deal for no reason should be sacked with him. It probably is hard to do but thats what you have to do when you run a football club its part of the game. Keeping him because they get along will damage the club Pat has done so much for he has people paid to make those decisions for him and they haven't done it.
Yes i am for real bluewhitearmy has something against the manager hes posts speaks volumes but i do agree he should go hes not the only problem in the club, behan for me hasnt gave an honest account of himself, also gamble who has played at a higher level should show more consistency and leadership, people seem to be pointing the finger at one person.
Edit: Jofspring said what i was going to before me.
2009: nothing was expected, it was very hard to make a judgement and the predominant view seemed to be, 'This isn't Scully's squad, let him establish his own squad next year and then we can really judge him.'
2010: decent squad, it seemed that this would be a chance to see exactly what Scully was at. Marked by inconsistancy overall for Limerick, the season saw Derry run away with the title with a strong Waterford United coming within 3. Limerick finished in 5th, 12 points off top. He's still finding his feet, surely?
2011: a strong squad, a midseason injection of cash, up against three quality sides in Cork, Shels and Mons. Marked by slip-up after slip-up after slip-up. Finished three off top, could've won it with some tactical awareness at home to the big sides. Scully out!
2012: Ah shur, we've cash, we've a strong squad. Scully is tactically clueless against the big sides, but this year there ARE no big sides.
Waterford United 3 - 1 Limerick FC
Limerick FC 1 - 2 Longford Town
His management is pock-marked by him hiding in the dugout for a succession of home losses to the big sides. He's just not up to the job. We're not being over-critical, we're realistic. I gave him almost three years before I felt it was time to go. Anyone who doesn't think he's outstayed his welcome must just be begrudging Limerick success.
I have heard of friction between players and managers but the players are pro footballers, your not going to tell me the reason they are losing is because of the friction between the two, most of theses players have experience at a higher level that should over come problems when the man in the middle blows the whistle.
Limerick to win v wexford and still top the league at the end of the season.
That is the scenario I also see unfolding, but then it leaves us with an even bigger problem of a manager totally out of his depth in a more competitive division
He has to go now so we can bed in a real manager before we get promoted.I also agree that some of the backroom staff need to go with him.Maybe Pat O Sullivan is too nice a guy and will continue wasting his money or the other scenario is he gets sick of all the waste and pulls the plug....
Thats exactly what ive been saying. We're not talking about kids who dont know what to do, they should be man enough to to get over any disagreements they have and do their jobs. Some people are just going to back the players no matter what, but I'd bet if any of the fans got a call in the morning to go play, they'd give a hell of a lot more than what some players have...and I'd include Paddy and Paudie as 2 of the biggest culprits there.
A good manager will get the best out of his players. A good manager is not only there to pick a team. Anyone of us could pick Limerick's best team. Looks like Scully can't even do that recently. A good manager is a motivator and can get average players playing well as a team and good players playing quality football and winning games. We have the best squad in the league by miles but we have already lost 2 games out of the opening 6. I thought Longford looked a good side the other night, but the way Limerick played, it made Longford top quaility and times.
From the moment the starting 11 was called out, I was extremely worried. I have seen in the past few seasons how negative Scully can be against the bigger teams at home. When I seen Shaun Kelly (a full back) playing right midfield I knew that we would be set up to defend. To leave Gaffney and Bradley on the bench was ridiculous to be honest. People say we should stick by him and he has done loads for the club but a win or even a draw last Friday would have been massive for Limerick. Nearly 1300 people were at that game and that could have been builit on with good passing football and three points last Friday but now a large chunk of that crowd will not bother for the next home game. I think we will nick a win in Wexford. It is a must win to be honest because Harps away will be tough as usual.
The same shaun kelly who got man of the match? Sean Brosnan was the only other option, and I wouldn't trust him. Rory was apparently sick for the week leading up to it. As others have mentioned abput Shane Tracy playing on the right, he's been playing there since the season started and through pre season as well. So who else were you going to play there? It'd have been crazy to start Bradley, one of the players said he was only able for half an hour. He was out for 2/3 weeks, was only doing small bits of work with the sports scientist last week, so I'd say it was safest to leave him on the bench or lose him for 4 or 6 weeks if he got injured again.
Ya he got man of the match as did play very well. Probably Limerick's only decent performance. My point was that Scully played a full back right midfield which proves that he set up the team to be negative and defensive. We need to be a lot more attacking and let the quaility players we have play good football as a team. I can understand setting up a team like that if you are the underdogs and try and grind out a result but with the quaility Scully has availabe to him, we shouldn't play to way we do.
How many pre season games were you at ? Shane playing right wing all season even though he started the Longford game on the left.He has played on the right a few times alright but it was the wrong decision to have him there Friday as well as any other time really he is a left sided player. Why would you not trust Brosnan on the right? Scored a great goal cutting in from there yesterday.
Scully said Gaffney was sick against Athlone too but he played 90 mins if he is too sick to play he is too sick to come on surely.
Bradley was 100% fit and that came form the man himself and he wasn't only doing bits he was back to full training the Thursday before the Athlone game that he came on in.....Only ready for half an hour Friday but then ready for 70 mins Monday strange one. Dave O Leary was still a better option then McGann anyway.
And who gave Kelly man of the match cos not one person on our team deserved man of the match and Kelly didn't really do anything in the game. Probably the same people that gave Gaffney man of the match against Salthill when it was clearly Dom Foley so wouldn't read anything into that.
Anybody who thinks Scully will be paid the remainder of his new contract if he's sacked is an idiot. This is LOI, he'll get a small compensation and that'll be it. Get rid now, or face watching this ****e for another season.
Shane has played on the right before and some managers like players cutting in, some players that are sick mightened be able to give you 90min but you might get a good 20mins out of the player if he is valuable enough to the squad, bradley is a very good player and im sure there is a reason why he was left out.
Shane has been cutting in on his left, Gaffneys been cutting in on to his right. Not a big issue, but the form he's in and the goals he's getting, i can see why he was playing him there so far.
Brosnan looked clueless anytime I saw him start last year, much better coming off the bench.
What I was told was, Gaffney FELT sick against Athlone, didnt train til a few days before the game because he was sick, so hardly can afford to put him straight in when he could cost you (hindsight... 20/20... and all that)
By 100% fit I would think Bradley meant injury free. There's a difference between training (prob fairly easy a few days before a game) and going into a game (high intensity), apparently was told by the physio only 30 mins against longford and then build up to a full game. 70 mins against Cork, 90 against Wexford (hopefully)
I agree O'Leary was a better option, but I think he's too similar to Joe. I think we're missing Judge's legs a bit in there as a link up. Joe tries, but it's not his natural game. McGann, O'Leary, Bradley and Gamble are all passers who like to sit a bit deeper, get Jeffrey back.
Also, those man of the match things are ridiculous. I'd have given it to Gillespie for Longford.
And finally, I'd quite like it if he stuck with the the same team that started against Cork. Keep Garbhan Coughlan in, Shane Tracy at LB, Dave ryan in goals and Treacy and Guthrie at CB. They deserve their chance.
Ya I agree with a similar team to the one against cork. Shane Tracey definitely at left back but I'd prob go with Dominic Foley up top with Behan if he is back fit ahead of Coughlan. Didn't think Garbhan was great. He is similar to Quinn in that he only wants the ball at his feet and other than that not interested. It was a pity Cian Collins had to come off injured and you could clearly see how ****ed off he got with it which shows he wanted to play.
Team
........................D.Ryan.................... ..........
Kelly ........ Purcell ........Guthrie ........Tracy
Gaffney ......Bradley.....Gamble.....D O Brien
.....................Foley........Behan........... ..............
Think its time for Davy to get chance in goal and if foley or O Brien isnt fit it think Brossi deserves a chance .
Going Limerick 2-0 win with Behan getting one a tracy from the spot .
Seriously man of course its going to affect players no matter how 'professional' thery are and that's just life.
P.s I dont think all the players are innocent victims either but scully is the main cause imo.
Anyway I've changed my mind and going for Wexford 1-3 Limerick
Hoping that the Longford game will give the team the motivation they need to get into gear. 2-1 Limerick.
We are not all lucky enough to win cups and leagues every year like Athlone.
