pre season starts tonight...let the fun begin. any news on other clubs, nenagh town have willie darcy and ponky shepard with them this year. any other news.
We started our training there last week..
Ya Willy darcy played B soccer for clough last season and seemingly does not want to play with us ( A's ) again this season.. ( His own choice ) but stupid one imo.. he will not stay with town for the season..
That Ponky lad is a good auld palyer all right.. good addition for town..
We are seemingly getting alot of players this season.. Dont know how good they are yet.. Have to wait and see..
ya i find it hard to see willie lasting myself, dont get me wrong he is a good player but imo he always likes to take the easy option i.e. playing with the b's not the a's. think if times get tough willie will jump. we hopefully have 1 vey good signing and could be a major factor in us trying to get the league back.
A few transfers between Celtic and Town again this year.We got back some young lads and lost Craig Connelly.Any other transfers in north tipp lads.
Lads, Shannon Olympic Clare premier team( just promoted) looking for friendly games. Will travel as our pitch is recovering after some sand slitting / re-seeding work.
Let me know if you are interested.
i hear that the shield draw was not made last night, what kind of people have we looking after this league. making it latr in the week??have they decided on divisions in the 2nd ,3rd???
I was at the meeting and in fairness they are trying to give all the teams a chance to get their registration fee in, so more the clubs fault than the commitee Id say.
They reckon there will be a 3rd Division this year also. One delegate queried whether they could start the 3rd Division in September so that their hurlers would be out of the championship and they could enter a B team. Says it all really.
how many players did peake get of thurles. Are these lads any good
anyone here know what the shield draws are or the setup of the divisions?

Just based on your shield draw this looks like the divisions.
How did Thurles end up getting relegated?
Birdhill never resurfaced.
What happened to Ballingarry?
Borrisokane seem to be in the 1st and 2nd, is that a typo or do they have a B team?
Im pretty happy they have reduced each division by 1 team, makes it more competitive.
thurles getting relegated because they wanted is a joke, it unfair to other teams. our B team put in second division and a team who finished 17 points ahead of them last year is in the third division, makes sense ya?????Birdhill said that they had very few players that were local and was no point especially after what happened last year.Ballingarry im not sure but i know a few of their players are in with nenagh B. Borrisokane in the 1st.
how will ballymackey go this year? we played tournament in limerick there sunday beat a strong pike rovers team 3-1, lost 2-1 to a team from shannnon and we lost i dont know cos we missed 5 one on ones and had alot of chances.
here is how i see it anyway lads
1.nenagh celtic
2.nenagh town
3.blackcastle
4.cloughjordan
5.moneygall
6.rearcross
7.sallypark
8.toome
9.borrisileigh
i reckon that will be close enough, i really feel we will win the league and the bottom 2 places will be between sallypark, toome and borris.

Ya Ballingarry have def no team this year..
I think it is better having a smaller division , and there is no way they could repeat the joke that was the div 2 league ( way too many teams )
[QUOTE=mr. man;1201259]I agree on the smaller divisions. 2 less games will help play off the season a lot quicker hopefully.
At Ballymackey I think we will be hopeful to finish in a comfortable mid-season, maybe late season push towards promotion. We just dont have the players, so we will have to try and mould a few hurlers into soccer players.
However a lot of factors to consider, I hear Nenagh B have a very strong team this year, Arra and Thurles Town should be good enough to get promoted. Then there are the likes of Clodaigh Rangers who are strong.
For the Premier I see it this way.
Nenagh Town
Nenagh Celtic
Cloughjordan
Blackcastle
Rearcross
Sallypark
Toomevara
Borrisoleigh
Moneygal
Thurles will be lucky to survive in the first ,lost nearly all there good players. Nenagh B are very strong as a few of their A team players from previous years and these are very good players are playing with the B team as they do not see eye to eye with the A team manager. Also what do you think of this as there is less teams that linesman could be provided for all premier games? or for all divisions if games were fixed at 11,1 and 3. Could improve standard of refereeing and football in the league. There is enough referees and the same 3 officials could officate together for those 3 games so it would not cause confusion about where they suppose to be????what ye think??
I would love the idea of having lines men for matches but i dont think its gonna happen.. And is there really that many refs.. i would doubt it.. Some of them i would not even call refs...
By the way where are Suirside from ?? Never heard of them before..
This is the way i think Premier will end up ..
Cloughjordan
Nenagh Town
Nenagh Celtic
Blackcastle
Rearcross
Sallypark
Moneygal
Borrisoleigh
Toomevara
Might be a small bit biased there but sure what can ya do :p
a small bit, no club outside nenagh has won the premier in over 9 years and i dont see that changing any time soon.everyone else along way behind in football terms, playing football and not kicking the leather off the ball.heard cloughjordan made a few signings from roscrea and birr, this true Mr .Man?? but both nenagh clubs has made very good signings too so i dont think cloughjordan will be able to close the gap that much.it would be great if a third team could challenge as the league getting a bit boring with both nenagh clubs dominating.u agree??
Ya we have made alot of new signings this year.. Some from ballingarry and 1 from borrisikane along with with birr and roscrea.. Also have some lads that were on the B team last year that should have been on the A team.. Its a different team than last year and my fear is that it might just take a while for us to gel.. Just have to wait and see.. The only good thing is we wont be relying on our hurlers as we seem to have a massive squad at the moment..
Obviously it would be great to see someone else challenging the top 2 and it would make it more interesting and competitive.. Blackcastle def have the potential to challenge if they keep their team together along with hopfully us , but honestly i feel it wont happen..
I think Arra were the last team to win the league outside nenagh.. Would i be right ?? They have gone back a fair bit since then..
I think the top four will be the same as last year with either Celtic or Town finishing on top.I hope both Blackcastle and Clough can be up there right to end of the season and make it a tight finish.Outside of that i cant see anyone else in contention for the league.
Premier Division Shield
1st. Round : Cloughjordan v Nenagh Celtic
We are faired screwed for players for tonights match through injuries and lads being away.. Also some suspensions from last season for lads picking up 4 yellow cards.. This must be a new thing is it ??
Ye missing anyone Celtic lads ?? Hope ye are not at full strength !!
ha ha i bet yer not half as bad as us....missing stevie ryan and darren scully(not playing) woggie and danny ryan(suspended) jimmy hynes(working)craig connolly(nenagh town) and adam mitchell(aisling in limerick) but have 2 new signings in paddy mitchell and brian quinn.
Weve played both cloughjordan and nenagh both teams very well organised and fit too, nenagh to nick it 2-1 i reckon
Easy win for celtic, 3-0 on the night.
Ya well deserved win .. We were missing too many and we played terrible and honestly it could have been more.. No excuses because i know Celtic were missing players also..
@ Celticlads
Noli is from killivilla who are a very good passing team.. We played them in a friendly there last week..
Mr Man has it right a dub who is player/manager for Killavilla, Mainly manager now that my legs are giving up on me :)
