I think that Galway are ......

going to stay up.

I think Harps and Cobh are going down :(. Its between Galway and UCD for the other spot. Kenna has got rid of a lot of rubbish, bar Derek O'Brien. I think if Galway had Derek O'Brien they would easily stay up but nonetheless with the team they have they are going to score plenty I think. :eek:

My prediction at start was Cobh, Harps and UCD and I think that these are the 3 going to go down.

At the top I predicted Bohs to win it at the start of the season but I think Patsz should win it easily enough. Bohs simply don't have the same fire power. Crowe is well past his best and Fenn isn't a natural goalscorer. Can't see them outdoing an extremely strong Pats side for the rest of the season. Pats have an awesome squad, if they had a bit better of a manager they could go places in Europe too.

Bohs just have a knack of winning the tough games, something, arguably, Pats haven't shown this season.

Still too early to call but if I were a betting man, I'd back Bohs.

Bohs have the 2 best strikers in the league in Crowe and Byrne.

Both are passing, if not already past, their peaks. Fenn, as mentioned before, doesn't score enough as well. Bohs will probably take it to the wire due to their sheer dogedness, but Pats have the superior firepower with Fahey and Quigley, which should see them take the league.

Slipping bak to the headline id be inclined to agree with you on Galway staying up,UCD Rams and Harps just seem to be woeful at the moment but its not too late for any of them to stage a bit of a run.With Harps and Rams it will be tougher because of the travelling up and down the country and been a rams fan i have to say our keeper is a joke his profile is reading 6ft id imagine 5 10 at most with him around we could be down sooner rather than later

Obviously it would be nice to get something from the Derry game but the two games after are vital. If Galway want to stay up this season, they have to win (not draw) both of those games, no two ways about it. Each game is a cup final now.

We can't afford to lose against the teams around us. If we can manage that and get the odd point off the teams not involved in the dogfight we will give ourselves every chance.

But FinnPark, no way are Harps gone. We are going to Ballybofey in a couple of weeks and if the result was in Harps favour, it would put a whole different spin on things.

What happens in the next week will have a huge bearing on how much confidence I have in us getting the points in Ballybofey, but as it stands, I think that we are in with a good chance.

Bit odd to move this thread here. I know the title doesn't do it any favours but it seems you cant mention any club in League section anymore. It's a general relegation discussion it's not really Galway specific. Is it not a bit pedantic moving it here?

I'd be happy with 4 points from the next 3 games, I can see a good performance against Derry but we'll still lose, a win from Harps becouse of our away form and a draw against UCD because of our ability not to win at home in the league.

we HAVE to get a point against Derry, Finn Harps seem a bit dodgy at the back (they've been taken apart a few times) and as for UCD I hear they couldn't buy a goal at the moment, the goons on MNS said that their keeper is now joint 2nd top scorer with 1 goal....
We need to stop teams playing through us and if Glynn gets service he has shown he can finish.. just hope we don't give away silly early goals that pile on the pressure.....

well gufc have given themselves a chance with that win - seem to always get a point or two if we dont concede stupid early goals

I'm not sure - I think Harps are probably in the best position to stay up.

UCD simply can't score - it looks like they won't be able to win enough games to stay up. That said they could manage a few 1-0 wins I'm sure as their defence is tight enough.

Harps have a pretty big squad and although he hasn't done much so far this season Conor Gethins is always likely to win a few matches.

Our squad is very thin at the moment, our first XI is arguably the best of the 4 sides in the battle but we can't really afford injuries and suspensions.

As for Cobh they've also added a few to their squad and if this new lad Ross Gaynor can score goals for them they might have a shout.

I think it's testament to how truly awful we all are that we're all suggesting another team will escape the drop from this dreadful pack of four. I really don't know anymore. Any one of us could flukishly hit something vaguely resembling a half decent run and save ourselves.

Every single one of the four are absoloutely useless.
If any team were to win 3 games on the bounce they'd open up a gap between the other 3.UTD have a tradition of going on run nearing the end of the season,should we do so again this year i think we'll stay up.

As a reverse of the process that saw Galway promoted, can we not just relegate all four teams for the good of the league?;)

We too have a history of some strong finishes but I genuinely don't see it coming this year.

I think losing Deegan could turn out to be the nail in Galway's coffin.

I doubt it seeing as he really didnt do anything in his time here? no goals, no assists, hardly broke any plays down seeing as most goals came down through the middle of the park, actually the only thing he did well was that he constantly got booked!
