This is really just another way of saying that prize money has increased surely?
Fines would have amounted to about 1 or 2 per cent of that figure. That's a tiny part.
They have also contributed some money to the funding of Marketing iniatives in some clubs through the CPO programme.
They paid RTE €5 million to do MNS.
Something that isn't widely publicised but RTE were very reluctant to do the show, especially in a prime time slot.
Hopefully at the end of this RTE will realise it not so bad for a National Broadcaster to show a National League.
But i think it was RTE were will to pay €5m not to do it, but the FAI insisted it was part of the package which was an excellent move on the FAIs part given the AIL is looming and the FAI need all the exposure they can get for the league to showcase the work they are doing.
I don't know where this came from. The FAI made a big deal about promo DVD RTE put together to get the TV rights for Irish football. The FAI claimed RTE made a big deal about what they could do for the LOI as part of their pitch.
Are the FAI claiming they would have received an extra 5m from RTE if the LOI not included with International TV rights?
It's not total bull. Wind your neck in.
I don't know where you are getting your info but I'm going by what I was told, at an official meeting with the FAI, by a senior representative of the FAI.
Regardless of what way anyone wants to shine it up, RTE are 5 million better off - not for actually doing the show, but for running it on a prime time slot on a Monday night.
I am no apologist for the FAI but I think it is some of you who should give the credit where it due.
I do find this hard to believe.
I did read somewhere that the mns programme was negotiated as part of a deal to get rights to the internationals.
RTE pay 5000 (though I saw 300 Euro quoted somewhere) for a live game to the FAI. Why would the FAI pay rte for the rights of the EL. TV3 (albeit a shyte programme) already had a programme of their own.
Also isnt this one of the reasons why the prize money rose so much?
