Text complaints

Could anyone tell me who provides updates for the Town text message service...

I have a few complaints which I intend to raise, fifstly I want to say that if the club are benefiting from this, great but a couple of things are taking the ****...

• I got news of the UEFA cup restructuring and how it was great for the LOI
• News of the restructuring of the FAI
• a message at 8.22p.m. telling me it was 0-0 at half-time between us and Drogs... 8.00pm K/O
• a text confirming the result of Longford - Drogs followed by a text with a round up... ie. two texts telling me Longford drew with Drogs...

is this taking the ****?

I think the text updates are provided by the same company, in which case, Longford get 0.5p per text sent. However, the texts come from the Longford committee, who ultimately decide how many texts get sent. I think one of the company's ads promises no more than three texts per day.

xlex i never got that text at 8.22 about half time in the drogs, i love the text service, i'm normally at work when the games are on so to know what is happening is worth iys weight in gold to me and the price is fine, is it the price or the content you don't like, but i would like to see more money going to the club

I have no problem with the cash going to the club, but 0.5c/30c per text is crazy, its nothing. I'm also getting texts about general news which I not only read online but discuss with other fans. The general texts above annoyed the head of me. But now I even more annoyed about the cut the town recieve. I'm thinking about unsubscribing once the cut is clarified. If I spend a €10 p.m. the club only gets 15c which is poor value...

just got a text letting me know who the top scorers are....



I want town news and that's it...


Gheewizz, Can you clarify all you know about this text service?

i got that text too, i'll have a look round and see what company are providing the service

subject to a side-swipe at me, i'll clarify why the text message is gone OTT...

1. the club get a very small percentage of the cost.
2. alot of news is not directly linked to the town... the match texts are fine, as are the texts for the cup draws and team news, but feck the rest.

the problem I see is that it will deter other mobile users from subscribing and I won't blame them...

it's not that I'm complaining about the idea or the essence of the service but the service provider is the one really fleecing us...

if you don't like it unsubscribe, they re a profit making company, not a charity service, you knew what it would cost before you signed up. did you look into how many texts you would be sent.

if not what are you on about, it is your problem if you didn't read the small print , but i would like to see more money going to the club.
