Sounds like fun good luck with it.
There was an Irish Surfing thread started just recently. Maybe these guys can give you some help.

Apparently 'Sick' means good.
Is it true that Wednesday is the best day to go Surfing? or is that just the pacific coast?
haha coincidentally i just booked a lesson for myself yesterday for next sat in lahinch too.i've done some snowboarding before so i'm hoping that it'll be pretty similar.have wanted to do some surfing for a while but none of my mates were up for it so decided to do it on my own
Let me know how you get on, as I am going to go Holy week and make a week of it.
I've been a few times, the hardest part is standing up on the board without falling over. If you're on the heavier side of average, you might want to do a few push ups before you head down to give you the strength to stand up quickly.
Also, Lahinch has a swimming pool with a sauna and jacuzzi which can be a nice spot to visit to warm up after a few hours in the sea.
Have I met you before Bald Student ha ha. Good tip on the push ups thing thanks for that. Yeah going to stay in Lahinch for 5 days and just do the lesson in the morning and chill out for the rest of the day. With a Bank Holiday on the Monday and Good Friday on the Friday, the whole week can be taken off without much dent into the Annual Leave too.
I just started in September. Best decision sports wise that I've ever made.
Strandhill in Sligo is where I started off, although I also recommend Streedagh, whih is out beside Lissadell.
I took lessons with these guys.

Best of luck!
2/3 ish
You should be standing up by the end of the first and it's all go from there really.
Oh now the pressue is on. Better keep up with the push ups. Cheers for the advice on this Brewer.
I didn't give the push-ups advice.
:) Must start them myself, getting up on my Bic is a pain in the arse.
my lesson is cancelled this weekend because of bad weather, was really looking forward to it too! will have to reschedule
