ya starting off id go for a vindaloo, its probably the best one to break you. Just a bit of advice though, be sure to have milk with you or something basic (base sp?! ) as water is no good for hot food.
tikka masala if you like it mild, jalfrazi if you like it hot, if you do get jalfrezi mix in some yoghurt, it helps with the burning mouth sensation :)
Chicken Korma...lovely and mild:)
If you like chicken try a chicken rogan josh, only mildly spicy, but packed with flavour. If you like lamb try a lamb passanda, creamy and mild and not as overpoweringly flavoured as the coconutty korma can be. And get a few onion bhajees for starters, one of the best things ever invented. :)
Have a chicken Phall, and go for it!.......remember to put a couple of toilet rolls in the fridge for the morning!:D
A rough guide to how to recognise how hot the dishes are
Mild spice-Korma,Masala dishes..
Medium spice-Rogan Josh,Bhuna dishes.
Hot/Cremation spice-Vindaloo,Madras,Phall dishes.
Try some Keema nan (bread with minced lamb) with your meal.
BOMBAY TO GO, Harts Corner is a fabulous take away.
Give this guy a shout he'll set you straight on the joy's of Curry
Cant go wrong with an oul Jal Frezi , Madras is good too
Aloo Saag (or Saag Aloo) has to be the nicest food on the planet. Its a side dish made with spinnach and potato. Not spicy but flavourful. Have to say though my homemade one is better than my local indian's but not as good as some other Indian restuarants have had it from.
Biryiani is a good easy to start with choice. Get whatever meat version or a veggie one. Its rice with the meat/veg mixed through it and a lovely corriander based curry sauce. Delicious.
Think I will have to make an Indian tonight now. This is making me crave it!
I love Indian as I've only got two taste buds that work (Kamikaze hot and Nuclear meltdown) Prawn Vindaloo extra hot please with 2 popadums, shami kebab,Naan Bread,a Pint of dom perignon and a fire extinguisher on standby. My farts could power a town the size of Longford for about a month
chicken balti is gorgeous...get pilau rice and nan bread with it..lovely!!
