Practicality of a "big friendly"

I'm all for endeavour and people getting on board for helping out, but lets all take a step back here, and not get too carried away too soon. Sean R, the idea of getting Madrid, or United, or even Bolton over to play a friendly is a good one, and credit to you for taking the initiave to enquire about this. I genuinely mean that, and please don't think I'm slagging you off when I say its a pipe dream, and an impossible one at that. The logistics of it are as follows: Initial outlay of: €100,000 insurance to be paid up front. Visiting clubs appearance fees plus expenses €70,000.(thats what United cost Shels last season). Security €20,000 etc...the list goes on. Plus its too late this season to arrange any major club, and lets face it, only United, Real, Liverpool, Arsenal, Celtic or Barca are going to create enough of a buzz to fill Thomond Park, who will also be looking for their pound of flesh.
Lets get a foundation in place first...then start thinking big!!
