Longford Town 3 - 0 Athlone Town

Just from listening to updates on the radio. Longford were on top for most of the first half. They had a few chances from Barrett and Lavine, couple of good saves from Moran.

Town's two best chances of the half came in the closing minutes. Harney was through on goal but shot straight at Dempsey. A few minutes later McCann had a good chance too but flicked it wide. Longford scored then on the stroke of halftime from Kirby.

Apparently Moran almost fisted the ball into the net from a fairly harmless cross, but it went wide for a corner.

Their other goals came in the last fiteen minutes from Murphy and Foley, two second half substitutes who replaced Lavine and Barrett. I think Moran was abit unlucky with the third goal. Twas a long range effort, went under his body.
