Kirby wants to make his mark

Longford United’s Alan Kirby wants to prove that he can become one of the best midfielders in the Premier Division.

The Longford midfielder has had an impressive start to the season and he believes it can only get better. The Waterford native wants to get noticed and knows that a few goals will help him achieve this.

“I feel I’m as good as anyone in the league,” admitted Kirby. “I seem to be playing well and I have scored a couple of goals.

I would like to get into double figures for the season, but I would be happy enough with seven or eight goals. I always try to get forward and I want to finish more chances.”

Kirby believes he is at the right club to achieve his ambitions. “We finished fifth last season so obviously we want to finish fourth or to make Europe. Everything is set up for us in Longford.”
