Official Rep of Ireland Supporters Club
I dont know if one exists at the moment, but this could be the forum to get fans on the same page as far as atmosphere at game / organizing the odd "official"protest (when necessary of course!) and generally being a resource for sharing info amongst irish fans. I live in the States, but grew up onthe south Terrace in the glory (and not so glory!) days of mid 80's to early 90's. There used to be some crack and some characters about. We seemed to have a repertoire of songs (one road / boys in green / field of athenrye/ ireland / Molly malone / ooh ahh paul mcgrath etc) - enough to get us through a good 90 mins plus of entertainment. the south terrace used to tease all the corporate sections with chants of access / visa etc, but all in all good banter. And righ nasty shower of characters there to, so if an opposition player took the pi$$ they heard about it. Having been at home for the croker and wales games, it was like being in 5 different crowds at once!
I digress, but everyone seems upset at stan, upset at the wave, upset at the boo-ing this one or that. I personally would pay a 100 euro sub every year to join an official supporters club, or whatever dues were deemed appropriate. The lads at YBIG.IE and Foot.ie all do a tremendous service for fans like us overseas with the sites, and pulications, but a United voice and front is whats needed to move forward. I have never met any characters off here in person (or ybig.ie) but I would have no problem proposing a committee that could being all Irish supporters toghether based on the passion that some of these lads have for the game, and how much supporting ireland means to them. If there already exists such a group, could someone please post a link to it!!!
