The Republic of Ireland U16’s beat Israel after penalties in their second game of the Ballymena Tournament.
Ireland played the better football and should have won the game in normal time but failed to make the most of their opportunities against a staunch Israeli defence, which played in front of an inspired goalkeeper.
Israel took a shock first half lead but it took Ireland just 15-minutes to level the match with an Ian Morris free kick. Despite Ireland’s dominance they could not break through and ended up winning on penalties by 3-2 after each side took six kicks.
