Scare mongering Wells

I would like to ask how in blue blazes is Windsor is going to be reduced to 7,000? Typical Wells Scare mongering. He should be a politician.

The most Windsor would be reduced to is 10,800 as we have 2 stands that are up to International standards for the forseable future.

Also in terms of the IFA agreement with Linfield, it was revealed that the IFA has to keep the stadium up to their own required standards. That would mean the IFA would be breaking the agreement by staging the internationals outside Windsor as THEY have failed to keep the ground up to standards.

So the IFA better be looking for big grants to do up Windsor, or they could be facing exstinction as they would be going bankrupt trying to pay Linfield our compensation.

I know :)

They have buried their heads in the sand along with the media (a certain ILF member/journalist) and now **** is hitting the fan.

We really need to seek pastures new though in a different league. This IL is going to be far too easy when we have all this money.

Indeed. Eircom League would be the obvious choice but I suspect problems getting to certain grounds, i.e Derry City, Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers and maybe Cork, therefore the Scottish League and English Leagues may be an option.. I don't think this will EVER happen though.

I would join the LOI if we couldn't get into England or Scotland.

Obviously though it is a pipe dream. It isn't likely to ever happen. The only way it will is if FIFA/UEFA force the United Kingdom into 1 footballing tree and 1 national team.(which wouldn't annoy me greatly. Would love to see Linfield being able to move up the divisions and possibly one day playing the big boys week in and week out.)

Why Cork?
+ Would Drogheda not be as volatile as Dundalk? (don't have a clue about this)

Getting into England or Scotland is definitely a pipe dream.

In my experience I've found the inhabitants of Drogheda to be quite a bit less republican in their outlook than people from Dundalk. Maybe due to the fact that there's quite a few northerners living in Dundalk whereas Drogheda is full of Dubs who can't afford a house in their own county.

We have heard bad reports from Portadown supporters about Cork. It didn't sound the most welcoming people for Protestant Northern Ireland people. And that was just the Police.

Linfield supporters where made very welcome by Drogheda people. We got a standing ovation coming out of the ground even after beating them.

We where also very welcome into the bars in Drogheda.

The last time we where in Dundalk, the place was a warzone.(although that was a very long time ago)

By all accounts it seems the Blues and Drogs fans get on very well. I even think friendships may have been forged. I doubt Dundalk would be like this, bnut you never know...

Maybe but what about when the teams meet head to head... What happens when Linfield buses go into Dundalk? I can hear the sound of brick hitting glass already...

We are talking about supporters here and other elements who may not even follow football, but would love to have a good oul rap with the other side:rolleyes:

In fairness Northern Ireland literally was a warzone at that time. Also in their report UEFA laid the blame squarely at the door of LFC reflected by the fines dished out. I'm not saying that Dundalk fans didn't respond to the provocation though. It was a long time ago though and in no way could I see LFC fans wanting to cause any trouble should they return in the near future.

Links between the clubs through the Dunfield project would have a great benefit in enabling both clubs to work together to ensure the security of both sets of fans in any possible future match.

Whereas I'm sure that true fans of DFC would respect the arrival of the LFC fans and relish such an encounter on purely football grounds, I'm not so sure about the rest of the town. There is a young element of scum that turn up at our bigger games just looking for trouble. this was soon by what had to be at least 60 teenagers leaving about 5 minutes early in a crunch league game against Shamrock Rovers last year to take up their 'positions'. These people are not fans of DFC. Many don't even go to the game but loiter around outside waiting for something to happen. DFC can hardly be held accountable for what happens on the streets of the town however and I'm sure that the Guards would be out in numbers to ensure this scum element were kept at bay if our sides (hopefully) meet again in the future.

As for the newly established links between LFC and DUFC supporters, fair play indeed. It is great to see and hopefully you can organise an annual friendly when Drogheda's time in the Setanta Cup comes to an end. :p

To get back to the original topic ("Wells Scaremongering"), the more I see of him, the less I like.

It seems to me that he doesn't actually give a damn about NI football; rather, he's only interested in keeping the Government* sweet, for the sake of his CV, so he can land a nice, fat job somewhere else soon. My betting is on the 2012 Olympics for that one.

Therefore, with the Government hell-bent on pushing us out to the Maze, "Agent Wells" is doing his bit on the inside by undermining the opponents of the Maze and bolstering any dubious argument in favour.

In this context, it is in his interests to do down Windsor at every opportunity, as we've seen here, so that we're stuck with no alternative but the Maze.

* - I've seen it written that his salary is actually being paid by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, a Department whose Minister is Edwin Jug Ears Poots - the MLA within whose constituency the Maze sits, and who is its chief cheerleader.

saw a report report on the news today and it didn't sound like it would be good news! apparently fire engines have to be parked outside the south stand during internationals as it is such a fire risk due to it being constructed out of wood!

wouldn't be so sure about that the news said there are problems with the north stand and even the west stand which was only built a few years ago

what the hell do Linfield do with all the money they get from the IFA then as the level of maintenance being carried on the ground was described as being very poor :confused:

Keep it up to the standard required for Linfield Football Club, which we do, if they didn't they wouldn't have been granted the UEFA license.

Well I have to say that the standard for Linfield isn't great then and should be higher. when I was at it a couple of weeks ago the roof in the North stand still didn't look like it had been fully fixed and the Moat thing in front of the stand was filled with S**t! I know Solitude is no san siro either but well we don't recieve up to 400,000 pound a year from the IFA some of which is supposed to be spent on the upkeep of the ground!

Exactly what maintenance is carried out then? My understanding of the what said in the report is that very little work has been carried out by Linfield.

This hole thing stinks of Incompetence but sure what else would you expect from the IFA.
