Delaney in line for Premiership start
Clive Delaney could be set to make his Premiership debut with West Ham United before May.
However, that may only happen if the Hammers have secured their position in the top flight by that stage. Manager Glenn Roeder didn’t include Delaney in his squad for the 2-0 home win over Sunderland, despite taking him to Goodison Park the previous week for the draw with Everton.
"There are a lot of edges to come off him, but he’s a terrific man to work with," Roeder said of Delaney.
"He has got natural qualities - heading ability, strong in the tackle and relatively comfortable on the ball for someone who is 6’5".
"He is still learning as far as this level is concerned and it is a question of how quickly he can pick it all up."
Deleney had been courted by Bolton, Kilmarnock and Bohemians, but opted for a four-month deal at Upton Park in February.
"I chose West Ham because it was the biggest club, it was fairly straight-forward," revealed Delaney, who has featured in the reserves three times.
"I was impressed with how things are run and I saw myself fitting in. I just want to take the opportunity I’ve been given. I can only improve as a player after a bit of full-time training and reserve games at West Ham.
"The end of the season is only two months away and I imagine I will be a better player after those two months. If Kilmarnock are seriously interested they will still be there in two months time - if things don’t work out here.
"There is a gulf in class, but in time I aim to adjust and raise my game up a level."
wouldnt be surprised if...

Gary Breen for Sunderland!
