The Irish Times is reporting that Jim McDaid (FF, Donegal NE) may not support Bertie as Taoiseach. He reckons the party tried to shaft him and that he owes them nothing.
Interesting- he'll be bought off though.

Now that I look that's on the front page of the indo- http://www.independent.ie/
Maybe FF will try for deal with both Greens & PDs for soem buffer as the PDs probably more loyal than their own members?
Two parties with wildly different worldviews there though. There could be another election yet........
Classic FF.
Fianna Fail members leave the party over "Irreconcileable differences", but can always be relied upon to vote for the leader of the party anytime for Taoiseach. Meanwhile, party stalwarts are regularly found to abstain, or vote against him.
Shades of McCreevy, Reynolds and several others under Haughey, except this guy is a bigger clown than usual.
2 chances of McDaid voting FOR anyone against The Party.
It's just his shot across the bows. His heart hasn't been in it for years. One of the worst Ministers in the history of FF Governemets and there have been quite a few turkeys in that lot.
FF's great success is The Sopranos like tension they manage to generate WITHIN their own ticket. Look at the girl who got wiped out in Bertie's constituency. Look at pretty boy Royston. Likewise here in Galway, if newcomer Michael Crowe had edged out outgoing Frank Fahy, the Party Hierarchy would have regarded it as a very good days work - not that you'll get any of them to admit it.
McDaid is the only decent FF TD ever to come out of Donegal.
Actually, as this is a footie forum, it's only fair to point out that Dr. Jim was one hell of a soccer player in his day and was a star of the most successful UCG (now NUIG) Coolingwood Cup squad ever in his days as a medical student.
Still doesn't alter the fact that he was / is a dire politician.
still you have to say that any man who has a nickname "the minister for fun" deserves to go down in history regardless of his performance as a politician !!
What, no comments about spanners in Bertie's works?
