Does anyone have any idea what prompted TG4 to televise them Utd games at the end of last season???
Reason I ask is, would they be inclined to do so again.
I tried to get somebody from sport out there but no answer.
Fair play to them all the same

AFAIK Setanta are showing the next 15 league games, TG4 will probably be showing a few after that. They will probably show a game from Terryland again as its only down the road from their HQ.United do more for the Irish language than any other club, I'm sure this will benifit the club when TG4 are choosing which games to televise.
a coincidence that utd games were televised at a time when clubs were trying to raise their profiles ahead of the decision by the IAG to award premier division licences.i also think this was a favour from TG4(to show utd games at this crucial time with the IAG) to utd or maybe it was a reward for the promotion of irish as someone already said here.
the match was in Athlone so it was hardly any benefit to united .They made their decision before we lost against Dundalk which if we had won would have made us favourites to win the league.
Terryland is technically in the Gaeltacht as well. Id say RnaG and TG4 probably cover Galway Gaa more than any other county so i dont see why it should be any different for Galway United.
Isnt TG4 based in Galway?,that might explain it
TG4 is based in Baile na hAbhann , however they contract out their sports coverage to a company called Nemeton who are based near Dungarvan.
So while the commentators are based in Galway, the equipment comes from the South East.
