wilko's refused thornton's availabilty for ireland's world youth cup warm-up. possibilty for everton at the weekend. also sounds like he was very good against bolton, this from sunderland's website:

Two goals in a minute in extra-time earned Sunderland an FA Cup fourth round meeting with Blackburn Rovers.
Man of the match Julio Arca made the breakthrough in the 98th minute with a pinpoint left foot drive to finally beat the impressive Kevin Poole.
Then substitute Michael Proctor pounced with number two less than 60 seconds later to give the sparse Stadium of Lighrt crowd some cheer.
Sunderland only had themselves to blame for having to endure the extra half an hour as they missed a catalogue of chances to seal it in normal time.
Kevin Kyle was the main culprit, the Scotland international squandering FOUR gilt-edged opportunites to put his side in front.
Just 14,550 bothered to turn up to watch this third round replay - 162 above the ground's all-time record low - as both managers made wholesale changes.
Those fans were rewarded with a positive display from Howard Wilkinson's men who adjusted well to the conditions and could have had four goals before normal time was up.
Only Thomas Sorensen, Darren Williams and Gavin McCann survived as Wilkinson made eight changes to the side that drew with Blackburn on Saturday.
As expected Nicolas Medina was handed his first-ever Sunderland appearance, 20 months after moving to the Stadium of Light in a £3.5m deal.
Summer signing Sean Thornton was also a debutant and he impressed, and Michael Gray made a return after a three-game injury absence.
Kevin Phillips, who scored the equaliser in the first game at the Reebok Stadium 10 days ago, and Tore Andre Flo were rested, meaning rare starts for Kyle and Marcus Stewart, but both strikers had a frustrating night.
With both sides battling to stay in the Premiership, this was a game they could have done without - and that was before extra time was served up!
Despite making the changes, Sunderland could still boast a side that included five current or former internationals, and one of them, Kyle, went close with a near-post header in the second minute.
The Black Cats started well with a gale at their backs in the first half, and Kyle went close early on - the first of many chances for the lanky striker.
Two minutes earlier Sorensen was nearly left red-faced when he missed a corner then watched the ball hit the bar and bounce to safety.
Kyle, fresh from signing a new contract to tie him to the Stadium of Light until 2006, had his second good chance in the 11th minute after good work by Arca, but Poole was alert enough to stop the shot at the near post.
Bolton's first effort came in the 15th minute from Delory Facey, a header that failed to trouble Sorensen, then Arca flashed a shot wide in what proved to be a big night for the fans' favourite.
Good work from McCann allowed Stewart space inside the box but the former Ipswich man took too long and Bruno N'Gotty got back to clear.
Just a minute later Kyle did well to fling himself at an inswinging Arca cross, only to see his header flash wide, then the Scot was at it again when his shot was saved by Poole.
Sunderland had won one of their last twelve League and cup games while Bolton's recent record read one in ten, so both sides were desperate for a morale-boosting win if nothing else.
Kyle's height caused the Trotters all sorts of problems - especially Ivan Campo - and the Scotland international could have had three goals in the opening period; and Arca, pushing for a Premiership return, was impressive and might have grabbed a goal himself.
Thornton looked comfortable in Sunderland's midfield, showing some good touches as the Black Cats poured forward in search of the breakthrough, and he tested Poole with a drive just after the break.
Bolton were lucky to survive a strong penalty shout before half time when Thornton, an Ireland youth international, went down under a strong challenge from Stig Tofting.
Kyle should have scored in first half injury time when unmarked he sent a header from close range right at Poole after a good cross by Stewart.
The Black Cats played some neat stuff and Thornton was behind most of their positive play, but they lacked the cutting edge needed to make their superiority county..
Wilkinson as forced into a change on the hour mark when centre-back Joachim Bjorklund limped off. He was replaced by Stanislav Varga in a straight swap.
Proctor was introduced in the 66th minute in a bid by Wilkinson to break the deadlock, meaning Sunderland changed their formation to an attacking 3-5-2.
Sunderland's back line had enjoyed an easy night, especially Sorensen but the Dane had to make a good save to deny Wanderers substitute Paul Warhurst in the 68th minute.
Below par Bolton seem more worried on concentrating on their Premiership survival but at least Sam Allardyce's side showed more imagination in the last half an hour, although it was still the home side that looked the more likely to get the breakthrough.
Bolton's plan of hitting Sunderland on the break nearly paid dividends in the 75th minute when Youri Djorkaeff burst clear only to find Sorensen imposing frame in the way.
Thornton went close to grabbing the goal he deserved a minute later, the young Irishman heading Arca's cross just over the bar, then he watched in disbelief as Poole made a wonder save from his right foot drive.
Kyle wasted his best chance of the night as the game crept towards extra-time, this time the Scot lobbed over from Arca's ball.
Nolan's drive looked to be heading towards the top corner when Williams got in a vital block, then substitute Proctor watched Poole tip over his header as both sides threatened a late winner.
There were groans around the Stadium of Light when Kyle missed a golden chance to win it right at the death, heading agonisingly wide from close range.
Kyle eventually had the ball in the back of the net, in the second minute of extra-time, but the flag had gone up for offside to leave the former Ayr United man cursing his luck.
Sunderland produced a catalogue of missed chances, non easier than Stewart's in the 96th minute when the striker failed to lift his shot over Poole.
Two goals in a minute saw the Black Cats book their place in round four. The first came from Arca in the 97th minute, a left foot drive from a tight angle. Then substitiute Michael Proctor sealed it with a left foot curler after dancing past Campo.
Sunderland dominated the rest of overtime but failed to add a goal. They can now look forward to a meeting with Blackburn at Ewood Park a week on Saturday.
