That's just weird:confused: I presume that there's no fee involved in covering games such as these. Interesting to see if it gets more viewers than Cork vs. Galway on Friday.Quote:
European Soccer Live, RTÉ Two, 7.30pm
Ray Houghton joins Peter Collins for live coverage of Manchester United against a European Union XI to be coached by Italian World Cup winner Marcello Lippi, at Old Trafford with commentary by Jimmy Magee and Trevor Steven. Ronaldinho, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and other stars are set to play for Marcello's Europe XI in a match to coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Manchester Utd's participation as the first English team to play UEFA's European club competition. The game will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome that marked the creation of the European Union.
I see that RTE aren't even showing highlights of Ireland playing in the World Cup of, arguably, the 2nd most popular sport in the world (although credit where it's due - fair play to them for putting up a website for the tournament).
An absolute disgrace, what a waste of my licence money.
Well the game was for charity so maybe any fee they pay goes to a charity.
A work colleague mentioned to me the other morning about it and I hadn't a clue what he was on about. Can't believe someone actually screened it. Total waste.
I enjoyed the first half as a spectacle I have to say.
