I thought we had Social Partnership? Are unions still allowed to strike?

We're supposed to. The Industrial Peace clause in Social Partnership is based on companies sticking to agreed procedures for dealing with grievances, work practice changes etc. This is yet another example of a State company breaking their procedures.Quote:

Who cares what we're allowed do. Workers in this country are starting to wake up to the fact they've been screwed for the duration of partnership. Expect to see a lot more strikes in the next few years. The anti-union cranks can moan all they want. :pQuote:

I don't know the full details of the dispute but surely given it is a state company there are industrial relations procedures for this? Simple arbitration case could be finished in a few day.Quote:

It's part of the dispute that agreed IR procedures weren't followed. The State and State Companies amongst the worst in this respect. We were out after our organisation refused to accept a Labour Court judgement that they'd breached procedures, and it's taken ballots for strikes several times in the last 6 months to stop us going out on a similar basis (i.e. company breaking procedures, the Labour Court finding that they have too, and the company refusing to implement the Labour Court ruling). How's that for Partnership? Even the Labour Court isn't enough to bring them back into their procedures...Quote:
