Headline in tomorrows Indo. Saw a bloke reading a mock up of the page on the bus home. Apparently the bars, directors rooms etc are ******ed and they've lost their paperwork. Also the floodlights MIGHT be ****ed and the stand's structures need to be checked.
They can't play at Tolks in the near future apparently.
I thought they were insured- thats what I heard on the news anyway
Unreal picture on the front page of the IT sports section on saturday.
Since the bar is below the stand & water looked like 4-5 feet deep who seem that the bar would be completel;y ruined.
I'm not sure if insurance covers flooding but if the state is compensating peoples private homes then shels will get some compo too. Probably doesn't make mean they'll be able to play in tolka any sooner though....

I dunno, I mean they haven´t been flooded like this before, so what odds it will happen again? I imagine they´ll be able to get insurance alright- maybe cost them a fair bit more though.Quote:

I'd doubt they'll go under, even if they only bring in E250,000 in insurance they could just sell someone like Wes Houlihan (his value will go way up if he plays for Ireland) for at least E500,000.
Eh? Whats to stop the fookers from playing on a weekend afternoon if the floodlights are knackered???? Suppose that would be too easy for oily and he'd rather act the big martyr.....

I think Ollie was quoted with some massive bill to fix the floodlights when all that would need replacing is the wiring at ground level & those kinda transformer boxes at each pole. The lights being at the top of big poles will be fine as will the poles themselves.Quote:

The biggest worry for shels may be any possible structural damage to the stands. I'd stuill be surprised if shels not playing there again by the end of the year.
They do cost a fortune though, prob as much as the lamps themselves.Quote:

Byrne was being a right Bollicks last nite on TV3 news saying that this could very well spell the end of $hel$. Totally over the top and only said it to make him look better when he 'fixes' it.

Exactly. Either that or their brokers will hit them with a 100%+ increase in their premium. Can't say I like $hels, but, I do pity their predicament and feel it would be an awful shame if the matter was anything more than a massive setback for them.Quote:

I'd say last weeks floods also seriously reduced the value of the Tolka property if $hel$ ever wanted to sell up & move to a green field site in North Dublin.
Definitely, unless some SERIOUS repair/reconstruction work is undertaken. That, though, is liable to be extremely costly in itself.Quote:

It is now common perception that the main reason we are getting flash flooding in Dublin is because of property devolpment. Natural river basins are now concrete and tarmac. When flooding occurs the natural water retention is reduced and the water flows straight into the rivers such as the Tolka... I don't think Planning permission would be granted as easily along such shores seeing as the likes of Bertie is getting grief... Green areas are no longer going to be just built on as easily as in the past...
Lucan was the last area I'm aware of that was effected by such flooding...
