I see Keane is up to his old tricks again. That's about 7 players now he's kicked out of Sunderland in two months or so. Thank f**k my boss isn't as bad.

Lawrence receives Sunderland axe after Keane row

Sunderland winger Liam Lawrence was offloaded to Coca-Cola Championship rivals Stoke City after a bust-up with manager Roy Keane, according to reports.

Lawrence joined Stoke on Friday and made his Potters debut in Saturday�s victory over Hull City.

The clubs have agreed on a permanent deal in January after the initial loan � and it has emerged that an angry exchange of words between Keane and Lawrence precipitated the midfielder�s immediate exit from the Stadium of Light.

The former Mansfield Town man signed a new four-year deal at Sunderland in the summer and has appeared in 12 of their 18 Coca-Cola Championship games this season, but has failed to see eye-to-eye with Keane in recent weeks and was quickly offloaded after last week�s training-ground spat.

English-born Lawrence was included in Steve Staunton�s Republic of Ireland squad for friendlies against Sweden and Chile earlier this year but has yet to make his international debut.

In fairness they werent exactly real madrid when he took over.
he brought in 5 players and got rid of 7 with more to come in Jan I assume.
no big deal. At least he is learning his trade and making his mistakes at some foreign club and not the national team like some people.

Liam Lawrence is harndly Pele and to be honest when you take over a club that is in the habit of losing you have to go through a weeding out process. When this happens you have some people with you and some against you. Lawrence was clearly not with Keane on this so its the managers decision to sell him. Hardly earth shattering stuff. Managers sell players all the time.

I saw Lawrence play for Sunderland against Wednesday and he did well.

The question is has he been offloaded because he's not good enough or because of a fight with the manager, which isn't in the best interests of the club?.

At least it's a sideways step for Lawrence rather than a downward one.

The best interests of the club what does that mean. Paul Mc Grath is a legend and a top player but it could be argued that Alex Ferguson was right to get rid of him. A manager has to make a call and see is the guy with him or against him. You need discipline at a club along with hard work and talent and players following tactics and buying into the idea of the team. Keane may have felt that Lawrence could not perform these duties for his team.

Or he just thought he was rubbish. Either way its no big deal. Every new manager at struggling clubs gets rid of half the squad and brings in replacements. Be stoopid not to...

No big deal at all. Happens every day in every workplace. When it boils down to it, it's not very wise to have a huge argument with your boss.

I don't think the Sunderlands fans will be up in arms about it somehow...

The best interests of the club = having your best XI on the park performing. Your final sentence is pure speculation. We don't know why Lawrence was let go. "Bust up with the manager" - agreed it could be anything but I would have liked to have seen Lawrence make progress at SUnderland. As I said before he impressed against Wednesday (who doesn't:o ?) and disappointed to see him on the move for whatever reason.
