Question for the Board

I am an Irish-American fan and I'm making my first trip to Ireland next month. The only time I ever got to see the national team play was at the Cup in 94 in Orlando, I saw both matches that we played there and being surronded by our fans and hearing the cheers was life changing. At any rate the first question I have is do they have any kind of official team store in Dublin I wanted to get the new team shirt or maybe a tracksuit. Here in New York they have a ton of stores that are dedicated to the Yankees and run by them and what not, is there anything like that in Dublin, if so what's the address or where would you buy it from? I'm also looking to get some gk gloves while i'm there as the exchange rate and not having to pay the VAT means that they are a little cheaper over there than here in the US.

The second question is where would be a good place also in Dublin to watch the Chelsea vs Man Utd game for a Man Utd fan.

Last question why are we the only country that has a sponsor logo on our kit? The dont have them on the game used shirts, why can't we buy one w/o the Eircom logo?

Anything else you want to suggest I would appreciate, thanks.

i do not know of any actual official shop in dublin. i am not saying that there is not one, i just do not know about it but you will be able to get the jersey and gloves and the rest of the irish stuff in any good sportshop such as lifestyle sports which are pretty much everywhere

There's no official FAI shop but as said above you'll be able to buy the team shirt in any sports shop. The reason for the sponsor logo on the shirt is purely commercial. By turning Ireland fans into walking billboards for eircom, the FAI can earn more money. Personally, I think this policy should be reversed on principle. If the FAI gave the players semi-permanent national team numbers and started putting player names on the backs of shirts then some of the advertising earnings lost would be recouped by stronger shirt sales.

The Soccer Shop, although not sure how much FAI gear they have in stock, Arnotts is pretty good for the National team stuff as well, sports department obviously!!!
