wh do people think is the current best player in this position?
McCourt is the best - a joy to watch. Maybe as a Drogheda man, you're angling for praise for Robbo and he's got to be one of the best. Excellent again in the Start game. I'd say he's more consistent nowadays. When played on the right, O'Donovan and Joxer can be terrific too (when it suits them).
Deery has ability but he's a sneaky little shít.
JP Kelly plays there too, doesn't he?
He's got ability but another sneaky little shít.
Roy O'Dononvan has bags of talent but gets hot headed and dives a bit too often in big games.
Bobby Ryan has lost a lot of his threat but could be a decent player again, if he moves from Shels for a fresh challenge.
Fergal Harkin has had some good games on the right.
Think he could shine under a new manager.
Cathal Lordon will hopefully make an impact for Cork City on the right.
O'Donovan for me, good control and bags of pace.
I thought Rovers right winger had a good game last Friday. There isn't much between O'Donovan, Deery and McCourt. Also Pat Kavanagh is one of the best young midfielders in the league. Watch this space.
Roy O'Donovan is no right winger imo.
Needs to be moved up front urgently.
McCourt on his day easily.
McCourt
JP Kelly
I don't rate McCourt as a winger/midfielder if thats where you are coming from, much prefer him in a more advanced role where he is much more dangerous, ideally playing off the front man or in the hole behind the front two. He's much more effective beating 3 men 30 yards out from goal than when he get the ball 20 yards into his own half IMHO.
I suppose it depends what formation you are playing, but in a 4-4-2 the right midfielder needs to cover backwards as well as they go forwards.
To me Deery has it all, pace, size, toughness, passing, tackling and a decent shot (!) as we have seen. He's starting to put all these skills together into a package more and more (I personally felt he was unachieved hugely up until now, maybe its just maturity).
Raf Creataro for Galway......best right back aswell.
Shane Robinson - having a great season for the Drogs
McCourt
Robinson
O'Donovan
in no particular order
This is getting uber tedious. Just because someone plays/played/knows someone from Sligo doesn't mean they are the ebst in the league. Raf Cretaro plays in the 1st therefore he clearly isn't the best right sided midfielder in the league. While we are on it, Foy is not the best player in the world either.Quote:

thanks Lads - with the off season only around the cornor, just looking around at poss. signings - I think we need cover for our wings - McCourt sounds like he could step in when Robbo is out.
Now what about left midfield - Keddy has done a job for us this season but I fear his legs may be getting a bit old and perhaps next season he will only be a squad player - who would you sign for this position if you had a number of moneymen bankrolling you?
Well looking at City i'd sign anyone for that position but Ndo would be the best bet.
Just realised the players I hate most in this league are both right wingers (O'Donovan and Robinson)
