More TG4 coverage

TG4 has today (August 10th) announced the next four eircom League fixtures to be broadcast live by the station.

As well as carrying the (previously announced) FAI Carlsberg Cup second round Dublin derby meeting of Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians on Friday, August 25th, TG4 will show four Premier Division fixtures over four consecutive Fridays during September. And this will be followed by two of the FAI Cup quarter-finals on Friday September 29th and Saturday September 30th.

First up is Bohemians v Drogheda United at Dalymount Park on Friday September 1st. This will be followed by the visit of Premier Division champions Cork City to United Park for their meeting with Drogheda United on September 8th. Next on the list is the Dublin derby at Richmond Park for the meeting of St Patrick�s Athletic and Shelbourne on September 15th. And the last of the four live league games is from Tolka Park where Shelbourne entertain Derry City on the 22nd.

i always do that but the commentary does be a second or 2 ahead of the pictures which is a pain in da sack

Fair play, I think this is more than the total eL coverage on all stations 4 years ago!

Far too much emphasis is placed on live games. What is more important is a decent highlights show showing ALL premier games every week. And also every ground in the league should have proper television gantries.

I think it's foolish to knock live football, the fans aren't exactly spilling through the turnstiles - here's a way to let them see what they're missing. i totally agree with you re. a proper highlights show. I recently watched ELW on fast forward, stopping for the football action, and couldn't believe how little there actually was. interestingly, they had a camera behind the goal at United Park last week offering - SHOCK! HORROR! - an alternative viewing angle. Don't understand why they don't show extended highlights of the top game[s] and goals from others, with less waffle from Osam. Take him out and put football in.

They didn't have an alternative viewing angle. RTE brought a camera behind the goal for a Drogs-Shels match a couple of years ago. Rumour has it, they just left it there afterwards. TV3's coverage of domestic soccer is to put it bluntly, awful!!

Was that not 40 games a season (Setanta, FAI Cup & League) with European games obviously extras as done on case per case basis?

Thats because the Gvt shafted them and Sky over the international rights. They are the ONLY tv station doin any kind of weekly show. There's nothing stopping anyone else doing one but they don't want to.
