Have Waterford the worst record ever in the league??
Nope.
About ten years ago, Drogheda went 23 games without a win before beating Dundalk. They only won one other game that season - against Dundalk.
Several teams have finished the league with three points - YMCA (1921/22), Jacobs (1929/30), Bray Unknowns (1941/42 and 1942/43) and St James' Gate (1943/44). In addition, Bohs (1959/60) were without a win, though with five draws, and Pioneers (1925/26) and Bray Unknowns (1935/35) picked up just two points, though that was a win, worth three now.
Kilkenny went, I think, 30 games without a win in 2000/01 in finishing the season on 9 points with just one win. The worst final points tally - though from fewer games and with two points for a win - belongs to UCD :o, with eight points the season after we lost 1-0 to Everton on aggregate in Europe...
In the First Division, Kilkenny lost their first 25 games of the 1994/95 season before ending with two draws for a final tally of...two points. So things could most definitely be worse!
phew!!!
Thank you Stu you're a mine of info
Any idea of how long a manager went without a win - 16 games must be nearly a record!!
YMCA :confused:Quote:

How do we have the record for the worst points tally on 8 if the other clubs mentioned above finished on 3?:confused:Quote:

We'd be better off in the first division. This is embarassing now,17 games in and just 3 points.:(
I'm not slagging or anything, but, they are the worst side that i've probably ever seen my 20 odd year of watching eL football. I can't see them wining a match all season.
actually quite enjoyed that season. after the first few matches we knew what lay in store. there wasn't too many trashings dished out, we just couldn't get that first win. the crowds didn't crumble too much either, it was as if everyone had suffered so much, it would have been unbearable to miss the game when we finally did win.Quote:
