was thinking that the other day myself, i use this section to follow the club due to the lack of a website and have been amazed by the lack of activity on here thus far trhis season, particularly compared to last year when any number couldnt get on here quickly enough with bad news after bad news.
thats not a go at anyone, just something i find atrange from the outside looking in at the club. surely these are the times, on the field at least, we had hoped for when the takeover went through, and wouldnt have dreamed possible during the pike days.
strange silence indeed.
maybe those creating the bad news that people posted about are learning?Quote:

I think you're spot on. But I also think that shows up that much of what was posted had a personal agenda rather than a club agenda. And everything negative that was posted can now really be considered gratuitously negative rather than constructive. :ball:Quote:

Anyone who has ever been on a committee will tell you that in order to get people to a meeting you need friction and issues. People, IMO, like Controversy, it's part of their nature. Nothing like a good row to get them going etc!!:D
It's been a bit quiet ok but I think that thats more to do with:
1..Still no news on the Lease
2. No Offical commentary so no real debate can take place.
I am very surprised, however, at the lack of discussion regarding the New Criteria and Structures etc and the impact that has for our future. This Discussion Board should be mad busy on the topic as it's so important. Much more so this year than any performace on the Pitch. I cant figure the silence on this issue. The only thing I can think of is the Lack of knowledge about it by most fans.
seems that way now looking back at it all, as someone who isnt ''in the know'' and was just using the site to follow the club i support, a lot of it seemed needless and didnt serve any purpose other than perhaps personal agendas, as you say. I dont know, dont really want to either.Quote:

Agree. We are doing it on the Pitch but the real important battle is off it this year. It is simple really: no Lease at Hogan Pk,or anywhere else for that matter, means no Grants, No Security of Tenure and worst of all no Promotion.
20% of the points in the Assessment actually will cover this years' on the pitch perfromance.
30% for the last 3yrs on the pitch play
10% for Infrastructure
15% for Class A UEFA Licence
15% for Sustainability ?
10% for Marketability, Geographical location etc...
had a read through that document John, interesting read, we should be ok on the playing side i think, anyone can see that is on the mend on shannonside, with gradual but sustained improvement.
also i am not overly concerned with the whole sustainability, marketability and geographical location area of it, as we have strong history of good support for the side in this part of the world once its not being mismanaged. it hasnt taken long for the one man and his dog at pike to improve by several hundred percent,so i would be hopefull of that being favourably looked upon,
also the league as a whole will be stronger if the provinces are strong, and as the countrys third city you'd imagine a strong Limerick side in the top division can only be appealing to those deciding the make up of it and giving out the precentage markings in those categories.its obvious we are en-route to fulfilling the all criteria, but has this just come a bit early for us?
but the 25% which hinges on the lease, tied into the licence is the worrying bit, could be a dealbreaker for us, have the league indicated that any periods of grace will be available? or will it be the top 12 clubs percentage-wise, will make up the top tier, and thats that?
it would be a killer to walk off with the league, and yet miss out on what would forever be spoken of as our rightfull place up top, of which we were cruelly deprived, but if it could happen to any club,it would be us, knowing our 'luck'.
whats your take on it all?
I don't think it's exaggerating to say that Joe Young holds the key to the future of the club. For some reason he won't sign that lease and shame on him for dragging this out.
Stick him on the board or agree to call the first stand the Fr Joe Stand or the Southill Connection Terrace or something - but we need that lease signed.
I've been calling the shed that for years :DQuote:
