That's definitely doable so. Won't be easy, but if it were to happen, then a final against Scottish opposition could be great publicity for the league!Quote:

Tough draw IMO. If Lithuania have a sum,mer league some of the advantage of previous years will be lost. Have irish clubs progressed past the first round in this for the past 3/4 years?
Last year (Bohs v Genk or Gent, whichever)was the first time in four years we failed to get through I think. Before that you had Cork (v Malmo), Rovers (v Odra) and Pat's (v Rijeka).
It was Gent.Quote:

You remember right. Knocked out by Velbazhd Kyustendil on away goals after 3-3 and 0-0 draws with us only after a week or two of training. Kyustendil went on to be taken over ("merged with" was how it was officially put) by Plovdiv, who were ten minutes away from knocking Bolton out of the UEFA Cup this year. And then after the Bolton match, the Plovdiv president - who as Kyustendil's president hosted a reception for the entire UCD squad and officials in his mansion after the match - was shot dead.
Shels should easily beat the Lithuanians.
Cork City beat Ekranas last year & this was their final table...
1. Ekranas 36 29 5 2 87 - 23 92
2. Kaunas 36 26 4 6 89 - 25 82
3. Suduva 36 16 11 9 67 - 43 59
4. Vetra 36 17 6 13 45 - 45 57
5. FC Vilnius 36 11 14 11 36 - 29 47
Should be easy to beat team that finished 35 points+ behind them.
Danes will be better than Swedes but may not treat so seriously.
Be good to have game against the scots too.
As the eurovision song goes,
Whats another year
You beat Ekranes after they came 2nd in the league. Hard to tell how the teams are playing 1 year on but it does look like one of the easier draws in Round 1.
We are still unseeded and 5 places behind Lithuania for a reason so I wont expect anything but would be confident if we hit anything close to our best by June.
Final Table 2004
1.FBK Kaunas 28 20 5 3 49-19 65 Champions
2.Ekranas Panevezys 28 20 2 6 59-22 62
3.Atlantas Klaipeda 28 15 5 8 36-29 50
4.Zalgiris Vilnius 28 10 7 11 32-38 37
5.Vetra Vilnius 28 9 8 11 29-33 35 [*1]
6.FK Silute 28 6 7 15 34-44 25
7.Suduva Marijampole 28 5 7 16 31-55 22
8.FK Vilnius 28 4 5 19 19-49 17 [*2]
but shels cant beat Cork... so I assume it'll be a draw.
question is, who will Ollie be borrowing off for the flights??
Just my opinion here now but the home leg of that tie, we were brutal .... seriously lacked anything remorely close to conviction. Weird atmosphere, shít weather, no shed .....funny game that was.Quote:

Boll*x. You forget we were also 2nd so we were playing like against like. We destroyed them in the away leg even with devine injured & 43 year old keeper making first start in years. Biggest surprise to me was the fact we were far fitter in the last 10 minutes & Ekranas out on their feet. We were poor in the 2nd leg. Shels superior fitness should see them through easily.Quote:
