Within two weeks I am planning to visit the Hebrides. I have always had a passion for remote islands, and when I moved to Ireland 18 months ago, the Hebrides were one of the destinations I definitely wanted to see during my staying on the British isles. Well, it's finally happening :)
Does anyone have experience with these islands? I haven't decided yet which of the islands to tackle, though Stornorway looks a very charming place and relatively easily reachable by ferry. I would like some nice nature sights of course, but if possible an also somewhat vibrant place with a few traditional Scottish pubs (or a Goth pub, but that may be too much to ask...)
Anyone have any suggestions of the must-see places and sights?
PS: a bit of groundhopping will be included of course, but practically every inhabited island has a ground (not a real stadium, just a ground) so I can do some groundhopping regardless of which islands I see

Stay away from the touristy east coast- full of high rise apartments and package holiday makers...
