Galway United secured their first win of the season, a 2-0 win over Limerick FC at Terryland Park tonight.
The lead goal came after 33 minutes when Pat Purcell headed into his own net as Galway applied pressure and he couldn't connect properly to clear from Ronan Frawley's header at goal.
The second goal came on 50 minutes when Alan Murphy scored with an excellent strike across Noel Mooney to put the game beyond the visitors.
A late John Lester cross-shot was about as close as Limerick came to get anything out of the game.
Galway United : Gough, Keady, Frawley (Carter 46), Clery, Keane, Cretaro (Gavin 57), Harty, Reilly, O'Brien, Murphy, Lavine (Moran 75).
Limerick FC : Mooney, Woulfe, Buckley, Purcell, Watters, Costello (Rose 63), Lester, Barrett, Heffernan, McCarthy (Guerin 77), Kelleher (Kiely 79).
Can't have been a classic if this was as much as they could report. Not so sure about Noc's team selection though, thought when Costello joined us 2 years ago he was a striker, Kiely up front:confused:  looks like we need games, our pre-season wasn't good enough, too many games called off.
