Realistically, what are our chances of winning the league,or even gaining promotion this season?
Well promotion wise I'd say we have fairly good "potentual marketability" :p
Seriously though we should be well up there for the title this season. NOC now has at his disposal:
Arguably the best keeper in the division (Noel Mooney if anyones wondering) :)
If he decides to play them together, easily the best centre half pairing in Finny and Paddy Purcell
Again, Noels tactical wisdom permitting, an excellent left back in Brian Buckley
The Best winger in the division: Colm Heffernan
One of the most commited and best midfielders/striker/emergency centre halfs in Tommy Legend.
Up front he has a proven goalscorer at this level in Carthy and also the most gifted striker and possibly player in the division in Robbie Kelleher.
There are still a few pieces of the puzzle to be filled in but add players like Conor Molan, Kevin Waters, Shane Guerin, Dave Ryan, Paul Rose and yes even Wolfie into that mix and your looking at a pretty good team/squad :ball:
Agree Lim, Have to be there or there abouts this year, even with your man at the helm, even he couldn't not push for promotion with that squad.....Quote:

Buckley, Barrett, Kelliher and Heffernan. Who else is Fairview? :ball:
Noel Mooney is a good Keeper but Alan Gough is the best keeper in the first division by a mile
Purcell had a season with Fairview before joining Pats and im guessing here that Finny played schoolboy with them as his from up around that direction...............i think myself Heff is really the only view man as the rest played with alot of other clubs........Quote:

It looks to me the Raf tranfer was not about football reasons. After all he is from sligo and u would think he would have jumped at the chance to play with is local team in the premier division. Some serious questions need to be asked.
Purcell didn't go from Fairview to Limerick. he went to Pats and then returned to Limerick from there.Quote:

mooney prob is best keeper in the div i'd say. if NOC decides to play football and not waste players like heffo i'd be surprised if ye don't challenge for play off at least
Sorry lads, I haven't a clue about the division yet but if there's a better keeper than Barry Murphy I'll be very surprised. Noel Mooney for instance isn't a patch on Barry Murphy.
KOH
But There is no promotion & relegation this season surely you know that
What?
That's true but Limerick must finish in the top 2 (or 3 at the very least) if they hope to get into the new Premier League for next year. Problem is though, the FAI haven't said how many teams will make up this new Premier Division and if they cut it back to 10 teams, then even winning the First Division this season may not be enough. I think we should be well capable of a top 3 finish this year with Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk being the main challengers.Quote:

We need another Centre Half, 2 Full Backs, Right Sided Midfieder and:p an attacking midfielder imo.
So Personally I dont think we will get promoted. Even Real Madrid would find it hard to get up with NOC in charge of "Tactics":)
We may still play in the Top division next year but it will have nothing to do with Footie !!!
is heff not goin to play right mid?
Good grief, the FAI must nearly be as bad as the FAW,and that's saying something!
