NI Euro 2008 qualifiers draw

To avoid this getting lost between a mass of posts in the ROI Euro 2008 topic, a seperate topic on this one.


I am afraid it'll be a hopeless one. Sweden, Denmark, Spain. Maybe a single shock victory like the one vs England, but really don't see Norn Iron overcoming three giants :(

Apart from that I am mainly curious to see the games vs Liechtenstein (because of my sympathy for the minnows) and Iceland (because of the well-known reasons)

I will support Iceland in this group, and NI (with the exception of the games vs Iceland). It'd be extremely cool to see Iceland and NI qualify, but I am realistic enough to know that the odds to that are as likely as San Marino qualifying...

Very tough group but i am sure the fans will enjoy the trips and the home games, with the fans being more encouraged by the win against England. Spain know how to break hearts, feckers! :mad:

Realistically, I don't think Northern Ireland ever had a real chance of qualifying for this, no matter who they were paired with in the draw.

I think people up here can be pleased, dito for the FA. Spain, Denmark and Sweden will bring many fans + TV money, and with trips to great cities like Reykjavik, Stockholm, Copenhagen the fans cannot complain.

Lawrie Sanchez declared to be optimistic, without expressing qualification hopes.
