Which was the first International you attended?

I was brought hand in hand by both my parents to the game below. Remember nothing about it except there was lots of room to stand and I think it was the only soccer match my mother went to:

Ireland v. Finland in 1990 - was it Brady's testimonial? We were losing 1-0 with a few minutes to go when Aldridge hit the bar and Kevin Sheedy nodded home the rebound.

Still haven't seen the goal since, remember it fondly overall, though it was my one and only time in the West Stand (which I hated, surrounded by suits who hardly celebrated the goal).

Wales in (I think) 1992 in the RDS. A brutal game which we lost 1-0 as far as I remember. I got the ticket from the husband of a woman I was working with at the time. I haven't seen her in 7 or 8 years but I still get tickets off him for every game. A pretty decent skin in fairness.

Friendly against Argentina in 1979 in LR. Drew 0:0

It is well documented why we played so many away friendlies in Poland so I suppose they got to come here for return fixtures. :D

My first one was Switzerland 1975 at Lansdowne. We won 2-1. I was 8.

First away game was Holland 81.

I can't remember my first Limerick game. I attended a few towards the end of 70/71 season . The earliest one I can remember was Kevin Fitzpatrick's testimonial in 71/72 when I was in the stand for the first time as opposed to the old Popular Side. My mother was pregnant with me at the 1966 Cup final though.

Didn't make my first one until Brian Kerr's first home game against Norway, despite having lived in Dublin for a few months in 1999.
Duff scored to win 1-0. Tore Andre Flo was warming up in front of the North Terrace and was booed for playing for Rangers, but he just laughed it off.

It was the '68, 2-2 draw. Uncle was a Bohs member and we went in the members entrance. The old man and the uncle had a few pints before, at half time and full time. Me, all I got was Miwadi and crisps along with a green and white bobble hat and scarf.

Blimey, that's a tough one. A few testimonials, Packie Bonner, Paul McGrath, Kevin Moran, but first proper game was, I think, a friendly against Croatia in which Niall Quinn and Keith O'Neil scored, 2-2 draw. June 1996.

I think it was Ireland Vs Morocco in Dalymount in 1989 (I think). I seem to remember dave O'leary lobbing packie with a looping backpass it bounced over him and up off the crossbar. Think the game was 0-0 muck.

Are you sure that was 0-0. I thought Aldridge got his first goal in that game or was that against Tunisia (too lazy to check Google) ?

I'm almost sure it was September 1990 (first fixture after Italia '90.) Recall that incident vividly. I think it was Denis Irwin's début, and to the best of my recollection David Kelly scored in a 1-0 win for Ireland.

My first, last and only visit to see Ireland play at Lansdowne Road was Kevin Moran's testimonial against (another :rolleyes: ) Premiership XI in May 1994. Ireland won 5-1.

Incredibly it was England v Ireland at Euro '88 at the age of almost 9. Thanks once again Dad. I distinctly remember him persuading my Mam that we should all go to Germany and that there would be no trouble (hooligans etc.) at the games.
I remember when I used to think I was Irelands lucky charm. We couldn't get into the Holland game at the same tournament and I was convinced it was partly my fault for not being there! It wasn't until Spain at Lansdowne in the USA 94 qualifiers, dozens of games later that I went to a game and saw them lose.

Wales v Ireland in Cardiff, I think the year was 1997, not sure. It was a terrible goal, Vinny Jones played for Wales & they scored a disallowed goal in the 1st few minutes!!

One of the few games of that period that I missed. We had 2 tickets for the game, but only myself and younger brother could go. My mam was having none of it because we were too young, so the tickets went to waste. Further fuelling my theory of the time that I was Irelands lucky charm because as you say they lost!
