XI of the Quarter Century
A quarter of the centenary has already passed. The League has taken many forms, moving from early professionalism to collapse, then to resurgence, and to now where the limit to the league seems higher than ever before.
Over the last 25 years, we've seen a genuinely impressive spread of great teams. Off the top of my head, you could easily make a thread of "face of the league" clubs: Shels, Bohs, Drogheda, Sligo, St. Pats, Dundalk, Cork, and Rovers, all had great teams to just to name a few.
I saw this question on Reddit and thought it might be more interesting to discuss: what would the best starting XI of the last 25 years look like?
Probably best to try not to pick players who peaked at your own club, would be a far more interesting and accurate list by doing so.
Heres mine, forgetting a tonne of players...
----------------- -------Alan Mannus-----------------------
Owen Heary - Jason Gavin - Pico Lopes - Brain Shelley
------Chris Forrester - Richie Ryan - Jack Byrne------
----Paddy McCourt - Jason Byrne - Seanie Maguire----
Manager: Paul Cook (who might not have won a league, but I feel has had the most positive effect on the league in my memory).
