... but sadly he's only a reserve. Givet is doubtful as well though, and he'd be a first-teamer.

Juventus defender Jonathan Zebina has been ruled out of France’s World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and the Republic of Ireland over the next week.

Right back Zebina, 27, started against Ireland in Paris last year, but has been forced to play second fiddle to Willy Sagnol for much of this year.

He picked up a thigh injury in Juve’s first game of the season against Chievo Verona at the weekend, and has been withdrawn from Raymond Domenech’s squad.

Lyon defender Anthony Reveillere has been summoned as a replacement, while Domenech also has a doubt over AS Monaco central defender Gael Givet, another who started against Ireland 11 months ago before falling to fringe status in the international squad.

Paris St Germain winger Jerome Rothen has also been withdrawn after a thigh strain.
