An equally impressive display against Portugal would end in defeat that didn’t reflect the performance meaning a 4-0 win over Armenia was a highlight of the qualification process.
The international season would end with a double-header against Iceland where Ireland won 3-0 and lost 1-0 in the games in Pinatar.
Onto a new season and Tom Mohan’s U19s were in scintillating form. They put four past Gibraltar with Mark O’Mahony hitting a hat-trick then beat hosts Wales 2-0 to insure qualification to the Elite Round.
They ended the first round of qualifying with a 1-0 win over Hungary and ended that stage with nine points, seven goals with zero conceded. Ireland host Slovakia, Estonia and Greece in the Elite Round in March.

Introduction:
This year, our Men’s Under-19s went toe-to-toe with some of Europe’s most talented teams. In March, they headed to England for the Elite Round but despite an impressive display they were beaten 3-1 with James Abankwah scoring for the young Boys in Green.
