Am I correct in saying the promotion/relegation playoff is just one game at a neutral venue this year? Sure I read this somewhere a few months back but can't find the info anywhere now, and what is the date set for the game(s)

It was last year anyway.
I have w/e 13th November down for it in our programme
Yeah the format appears to be the same as last season based on the fixture list released by the league at the start of the season (last page of the link below)

The playoff structure of 4 FD and 1 PD is good. The neutral venue fixtures is a bad idea. The playoffs are an opportunity for high profile home games, especially for the First Division clubs. The clubs can bring about change on this one.
If Galway or Waterford get to take on Finn Harps or UCD, 3 home games in the playoffs is a good LoI promotional activity on the field of play. No gimmicks required.
100% agree a bumper home gate in one of these game can go a long way to helping a club through the 2-3 month close season. Also with one game it just takes one bad game or one slip up or momentary lapse in concentration and the game is over, a season of hard work goneQuote:

Apart from anything else, it only potentially leads to a crap attendance.
The likes of Harps v Waterford in Longford won't have any huge crowd at it. Where the same two legged ties would have packed out both RSC and Finn Park.
It's just another poor decision from FAI.
Play off format is 2nd v 5th and 3rd v 4th over two legs
Winners play each other over one leg
Winner of that plays PD 9th over one leg
Sould the teams in 4th and 5th even be given this opportunity?? If they somehow made it through they would go straight back down and most likely be the team the top teams would improve their goal difference against.Quote:
