St. Pat's to be docked 15 points

Well, this league is turning into a shambles. St. Pat's will be docked 15 points because Charles Livingstone was not properly registered for five games.
Roy Dooney admitted he knew about this for the last six months, but did nothing. He went on to say
"There are other forms that I am aware of that are not correctly filled in. It's not hugely widespread, but there would be other clubs who would probably be facing points deductions."
Most cases, he said, involved less prominent clubs, but some, he confirmed, are also in the Premier Division.

Dooney conceded last night the club is unlikely to be so sympathetically treated this time around and the imposition of a 15-point penalty, which looks inevitable, leaves Shelbourne eight points clear of Shamrock Rovers.

If we had beaten UCD, we might still have got the Inter-Toto spot.

The thing is, are all City players properly registered?

Are we in a glass house before anyone starts throwin'. Can anyone confirm this.

there are plenty of clubs who've broken this rule every season from what I hear. Once in a while the FAI make an example of someone over it, and whereas others took it lying down, Pats didn't-thats what kicked all of this off. Some people on the eircomleague.net MB are saying Dolan intends compiling a list of all players who weren't properly registered and presenting that as part of pats defence. If he can prove that others broke the rule and weren't hauled up for it, then pats have a case that they were shabbily treated. The bottom line is that the FAI have fcuked up AGAIN and NOW is the time for someone to demand that heads role. IMO, we're better off without the FAI.

Pats have lied through their teeth for the whole of this while banging on about how professional they are. The FAI may well be a joke but Pats don't deserve an ounce of sympathy. If Shels and Pats positions were reversed do you think for a moment Dolan would let this lie for the good of the game? No he'd be screaming from the rooftops about the lack of professionalism in football.

Both Pats and the FAI deserve a roasting over this.

IMO, we're better off without the FAI.

The FAI have been a disaster for soccer in Ireland, and a completely new body might be a better option now. Of course any new authority would have to have set rules which are agreed by all and enforced. However, the problem with breaking with the FAI is [list=1][*]They are the body recognised by FIFA, as being in charge of the national team.[*]The national team is used as the lever to give TV coverage and get money for the eL[*]A lot of people involved in eL clubs, are well positioned in the FAI, and will not give that up.[/list=1]
The only thing we can hope for is that Roy Dooney starts doing his job properly, in a fair manner and sorts out the rules as quickly as possible. Given that he sat on this thing for 6 months though, I think he is a lame duck already.... :(

agreed Jim. Point I'm making is that if the FAI implemented their own rules and the clubs actually thought that they'd be punished for fcuking up, then there is no way this would happen. Thats why I blame the FAI.
